Dragon/Cyber Hobby 1:48 Ju88-A4 (Finnish)

Post by Russ72 »

First completed Group Build (Yay Me!), and I'm pretty pleased with the results.

To recap what I was going for:

And using this to try and achieve it:

Using these websites as well as other resources as an aid:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mi ... of_Finland

http://www.virtualpilots.fi/hist/WW2His ... mbers.html

I finished up with this:

There were challenging times during the build which were both due to the kit and my lack of experience, but persistence and patience will pay dividends. I'd like to thank everyone who viewed and provided encouragement on the build thread, and those who gave advice, heads ups and direction towards resource material.

This has been the story of a man and his reindeer.

Cheers, Russ. :cheers2:

Great work Russ! Paint job and weathering is perfect. :cheers2:

Did you hand paint the squadron insignia!? Good job!

I have to get this kit myself. Right now I'm working with the Revell's 1/72 kit. Did the Dragon kit have an option for 20 mm nose cannon? Revell kit doesn't have that and I'm considering some scratch building but there are couple of problems, like my nerves for starters :D

Thanks Guys, much appreciated.

The nose art is painted on, I got decal paper and such to do it, but the printer was out of ink (and not very good) then I was going to hand paint on the decal sheet but then thought, stuff it I'll just paint on the model and see how it goes. It's a little bit rough, but looks okay at a distance.

There was no option for a cannon in the front unfortunately.

1/72 is definitely more feasible for shelf space. My shelves are barely big enough, the portside wheel is balanced on the edge with Blu-Tac reinforcement.
