Pauls HobbyBoss 1/48 Me 262 A-1/U2 (VO56)

Post by Paul »

So a nice little build, really cheap kit (even though i had to buy two  ) Great surface detail, the wash made the panel lines and rivets pop out. Overall a fairly trouble free build, fit of parts was generally good, some fitted like a glove, a few needed some work or persuasion. I will be adding more of these Hobby Boss 262 kits to the stash as its one of my favourite aircraft.
The decals were terrible in this kit a lot of them just disintegrated when trying to remove them from the backing paper luckily i had two sets of them so managed to get by

: Painted in Mr Hobby Aqueous RLM colours, using raised plasticard splinter camo "masks" i was happy with the result.
: Weathered (lightly) with Ultimate Dark Dirt and concrete washes and an oil wash on the landing gear.
: Built totally out the box, the only added extra was the easy line antenna wires :thumb2:

The removable gun bay panel looks a bit odd when shut (one of those parts that didn't quite fit properly) , but i plan to display this with it open anyway and possibly the canopy too

Build thread can be found here CLICK

Anyway heres a shedload of pics

Beautiful 262!

There is so much that I admire in your build but I particularly love the bare metal finish on the intakes and the mottling.

Paul - outstanding modeling. The crisp panel and rivet lines are very well done as seen on the wing underside picture - what technique did you use for such crispness?

Do you mean the wash if so it was Ultimate Dark dirt washed on , left to dry and removed :thumb2:

Great result, as ususal :bow::
Need to get me one off these, the 262 is one off my favourits to.

Love the panelwash-details. I have to practice a little bit more on that, for some reeson I always end up cleaning out the panellines wen I want to remove the wash from the panels.
How long do you leave it to dry before cleaning?

Looks wonderful Paul - a real delight!

I just bought 2 of these kits, the 1b BMW version and the 50mm cannon U4 version to go alongside an older Dragon U3 recon version Ive got in the stash.

I shall start one of these as soon as they arrive - I have an Academy 1/72 in the stash thats half started that needs completion first!
