Pobeda (Victory) - Berlin, May 1945 - Final reveal

Hi, guys! This is the final reveal of my dio "Pobeda". It's settled in Berlin a couple of days after the end of WW II. Some Russian soldiers are having a good time with a little vodka on the areal of a ruined factory. Their "Katyusha" is parked outside. One of the soldiers tries to lure a young German girl. She doesn't seem to be too convinced that this is a good idea!

All buildings and furniture are scratch built. Except for primer and the base colour of the "Katyusha" (rattle cans) everything was painted with paintbrushes. I'm not a good figure painter, but I tried my very best.

This GB was great big fun for me, although I really was running out of time in the end. I want to thank ISM for hosting it and you, guys, for looking, supporting and following!

I have really enjoyed following your thread thoughout the build. You sir are a artist and im so glad you got it built and displayed here. now jens tonight you should be the one with a vodka in your hands fella.

First of all; Let me congratulate you to a fantastic diorama and probably the most impressive build I've seen sofar. Also that you have stayed on track the whole time, not compromised with your effort and attention to details through-out the build. And you finished it time (close call but you made it happen).

I've looked at the pictures for a good 15 minutes and marveled at all the details and how cleverly they are displayed. It's too much to mention each and one of them, but everything holds together and tells the story of glorious victory and celebration.

Rest assured that I will go back to your buildthread and youtube channel of course, to get inspiration and pick up ideas in the future.

Hope you celebrate tonight - maybe a vodka or two with the victorious comrades in your dio

Wow, guys! I'm deeply, deeply honoured by your very kind words! My eyes are watering, no kidding, lads! And of course I'll have a couple of glasses tonight! It WAS hard work and I loved this GB, 'cause it made me expand my skills. I don't care if I win. That's not what this beautiful event was about for me. It was the fun I had, the nice people I got to talk to and sharing our builds. It was outstanding to be part of this, Thanks again, guys!

Man alive! There is so much to look at on this build, the whole diorama is real breathtaking - from little things like the wagon, to the art picture on the floor, to the chain in the front bumper. Fantastic!

Can't find words to describe this FANTASTIC piece of Diorama Art ...it isn't only the way as it turn out that it is gorgeous to the eyes and a lot of stuff to watch and see ...it is to have follow all your work on it , beautifull thread and fantastic finish ! A winner in my opinion

Really hope to see some more participations in other GB's and SiG here in the forum , we learn a lot from you !

Thanks a lot, Antonio! Your comment is overwhelming! I see all the little imperfections and think "I could have done better, if I had had more time!", but maybe I'm just stupid. I'll be participating in the "Barkas Build" which is - as far as I know - a new SIG here, but was originally launched in the Google+ community I'm part of. And I'll convert a GMC water tank truck into a fuel tanker from scratch. I'll share the build on ISM. Again thank you very much for your compliments and kind words!

Thank you so much, Andy! Here I am sitting with a nice glass of ice cold vodka in my hand and am so glad you and all other followers like that "tiny" dio I built! I put more into it than in every other dio I built before and I don't mean just work. I've been looking at many other build threads and was mighty imporessed with the work my fellow modelers did. That pushed me forward, 'cause I wanted to be as good as the guys whose work I admired.

All of you - and especially you, Andy - made me go a few steps further than my skills would have allowed. I learned a lot during this GB, but the best thing I learned was, that you can find real good friends in this community. That's the most valuable experience I made and it's a shame we all live so far away from each other. Would be nice to hang out for real now and then, wouldn't it?

I'm really touched by all the support I was given when my dad was in hospital and I wasn't able to work at full speed for about three weeks. And I loved reading all the kind words and huge compliments. I don't want to miss that and I intend to participate in as many GB or SIG as my little income as an early retired guy allowes me to. Sure is the "Barkas Build", but I'll see what else is possible.

Now, my good buddy, I'll lay back for a couple of days, for my future builds are already planned and I have the dios layed out in my head - as usual no drawings! - put my feet onto the living room table and sip my vodka! No wonder the Russians won the war - with that fuel, hehehe!

Watch out for my short update video on Wednesday or Thursday! Enough for tonight. Continued success, my friend (I like that expression!) and take care.

Your attention to detail is amazing and there are so many little details that aren't immediately seen on first look but creep out as you look harder, just like a masters picture. Simply fantastic, well done

real nice, no excellent diorama build love all the detail put into this build. I know the Germans are known for their quality, but a wall socket that will arrest the fall of a Tiffany desk lamp seems a bit far fetched

.. I put it down to artists licence and adds some comic releaf into a build

As always happy modeling and keep sticking styrene.

Thank you very much, Paul! About the desk lamp: My dad is an electrician and I asked him if that was possible. He said "Yes", because the German sockets and plugs ("SchuKo" = "Schutzkontakt" (safety contact)) hold very tightly. The main reason to do it that way is that I wanted everybody to see the light bulb I put into the lamp, hehehe! I'm glad you like it, my friend! Take care!

Thans for the reply Jens. I have heard about the safety contact plug in Germany. I actually live only 1,7 KM from the German border

. I thought I'd mention it because with gravity and inertia factored into the mix the contact would most likely be broken if it was straight from the wall socket. If it was wrapped around let's say a table leg it should hold with German Grundlichheit and all that. Nice touch on going the distance and even putting in a licht bulb.

Ah, I just saw where you live! That's close to Maastricht, isn't it? I was born near Düsseldorf and visited the Netherlands quite frequently. Although I must admit, that I don't speak the language. I like your country and the people I met!

Correct Jens Maastricht is only is about 20 Km further to the south, and Heerlen one of the other biggish city's in this province is about 25 Km to the west south west of my home town. Where I live it is the narrowest part of The Netherlands and is only about 10 Km in total width.
