Post by TommyKillander »

Hey guys,

Here's my finished entry to the Homeland GB, the SAAB J29 Tunnan built on Tarangus 1:72 scale kit with aftermarket parts (PE and pitot-tubes).
The build thread is here: http://www.intscalemodeller.com/viewtop ... 89&t=12341

That is a fantastic finish. :jd: Congrats!

Just a curiosity, how did you get the Canopy on the right place? I always find it so difficult to make it right, wonder if you have any hint to share.
Thanks
Antonio

Thanks Antonio,

The instructions does not cover the open canopy option, so I checked photos of the Tunnan probably 100 times
Once I had figured out the exact position I used a needle to apply two drops of CA glue on the rim of the cockpit. It's probably a good idea to dryfit a couple of times before you apply the CA glue to get a feel for the reference-points.
To avoid smearing and fingerprints I used a "sticky pin" (a toothpick with a blob of white tack on the end) to place the canopy. I find it easier to align small parts using this method, because the fingers are too big and get in the way when I align the part and there is always a risk that some CA leaks out from a gap and clues your finger to the model :ooops:
If the parts are very small, I use the Ultimate PE placer.

Hope this helps you, cheers!
