Airfix 1/72 Supermarine Spitfire F Mk 22

Post by PrivateMansoor »

This is my final reveal for the 1/72 Airfix Supermarine Spitfire for the Shiny Things GB.

The model was damaged during construction and I was about to give up, but some fellow ISM modellers encouraged me to create a weathered almost abandoned diorama. I took this on board and here are the final results.

The kit was built in the metal finish shown on the box art. The kit was brush painted using Tamiya Enamels (primarily XF-16, Flat Aluminium) and the canopy was painted using tamiya acrylics.

Kit Details

So great. I love the moss growing up the wings, it really looks like someone ditched their Spit in a Frenchman's farm and no one has found it a year on...

Really glad you went for it!

Edit to add: the canopy scummy-ness is also a great touch!

I like the color - and I know it's heart breaking to have a breakdown right at the finish line but great recovery.

Very very nice, really like the moss on the wings.

Thanks all, if it wasn't for some of you guys, primarily RoscoRSA, Lysus and Cymru, this model would have been in the bin. So thanks again for the ideas and motivation!
