Hecker & Goros Pikeman "the marauder" in 54mm scale

Post by HamilkarBarkas »

Grab your pikes my fellow soldiers 8-)

I´m very interested in the Thirty Years´s War so this figure from Hecker & Goros was a exciting project. I love how he grabs the stolen goose on the neck.
In this war marauding and plundering was common, some areas in Germany actually lost over 70% of their population due to killed farmers and famine caused by marauding soldiers. This figure was of special interest for me as my home region was heavily damaged by this war. The funny grinning pikeman is an interesting contrast to the things he has done before in order to get this goose (most likely he killed the farmer and raped his wife and daughters). I think the video down below illustrates the brutality of the war quite nicely and depicts this constrast i mentioned above. Enough of the background history.
The figure is made out of white metal, it was easy to assemble it. The level of detail is superb.
I used acrylic paints from Revell to paint the miniature. Oil paints were used for the shading.

Another well done figure Michael.

Though I am not sure I like what he is doing to that poor bird.

But I am glad it's not his chicken he is choking!!

Fantastic work Hamilkar,
I loved the back story, I'd recently read a bit about it myself and your figure adds a bit of odd humour to the topic for me.
Mostly for the reason that you've describe.
The expression on his face most definitely doesn't reflect what he's probably just done to get that goose.
I love this piece.
It made me stop and think.
