German SIG 33 Heavy Infantry Gun

Post by panzerman »

Late start to the group build, but I couldn't let this one pass by without entering. I'll be building the Caesar, 1/72 scale kit of the Gun.
It's fairly basic in detail, so I'll be adding a lot of scratchbuilt extras. A nice bonus to the kit is it has 8 crewmen included....... a la Prieser type
of molding. Of course it will be on a suitable base, depicting a fire position for the gun(Normandy or Russia?)
Here's my time-date, start-proof photos..........................................
Image

Image
I will post updates to the build here on International Scale Modeller, and on my Youtube site, PanzermansBunker.
Thanks for viewing,
Bill.

Nice of you to join us, interesting subject.

Do you have any idea on the theater you will depict it in, also will it be a diorama of sorts?

Great to see someone else doing some scratch building, looking forward to watching this, Best of luck

Thanks guys, I appreciate the warm welcome.
Lots of cool builds going on here.
@DC87, I'll probably place the gun in an Eastern front setting.

Construction Update: sIG 33 is about 90% done....still need to add details to interior gun shield. Construction of crewmen
will take considerably longer(but worth the effort!). Some photos............................

You definitely have the scratch work down pat.
It looks top drawer.
It's too bad you'll be covering it all up with paint.

Thanks guys. Quick update.................

Image
Adding equipment to figures.....scratchbuilt headphones to radio operator.....scratchbuilt radio, shells, and charges.
Image
1st look at the base without all the pieces added.....made it a concealed firing position.
Image
Other end of diorama base......still lots to do and little time to do it. Starting to feel the anxiety of Capt. Hook. HaHaHa!

Thanks Coen....lots of little miscellaneous details to attend to......rifle rack, bench, and additional clutter....the stuff that makes a scene look authentic.
Really liking your Tiger Buddy build....that is one big Kitty. Good Luck, but with that exhaustive reference library you have and your talent...you won't need Luck...HaHa!
