Some armour to add to this year's variety...

First up the Asuka/Tasca 1/35 Panzer II Luchs - this was actually completed in June but I forgot to add it to this collection at the time

And here's Tamiya's rebox of Italeri's 1/35 M-24 Chaffee; my first go at allied armour in 1/35 and a first hack at using oils as part of the weathering process as well.
Image

Image

And another tick on the list of replicating early 1/76 builds with 1/35 counterparts

Thanks as always for looking :cheers2:

Another couple to add to the set.

First up Resicast's 1/35 Ford T Gun Carrier with additional figures from Masterbox which was my entry into the WW1 GB

And not sure if this counts as the last build of 2018 or the first of 2019 but here's Zvezda's 1/72 SU-27 Flanker

Neil,
Sorry for not commenting earlier, I've been far to busy on my own stuff. I really like your portfolio. The subjects and your build quality really make it an enjoyable view. There are so many I like that I cannot pick a favorite.

GREAT JOB!!

Re: Tomcat's Portfolio

Post by Tomcat64 »

So my second build of the year wasn't something I originally had planned but I wanted to test out the Hataka Orange Line paints on something before tackling my 1/48 Draken - I'm still not sure if I prefer them over Model Air, but anyway here's my 1/72 Airfix Saab Draken. This was a 1989 rebox but the moulds were from 1970 based on the date stamp inside the lower fuselage - and yep they were showing their age! Plenty of filler used but it was fun to go back to one of the kits I built as a kid - although it took me a lot longer this time :)
Image

Edit: I've added a few more photos from various angles
Image

Image

Image

And just out of interest I wanted to see how it compared size-wise with the flanker...

Nice looking Draken. I picked one up for a couple of quid on ebay with the plan being to learn how to replace the raised panel lines - haven't got round to it yet though!

Rob it won't be a surprise to you to find out that mine came from the same source but I left the panel lines in place and just ran a Mig Blue-black accent over them. Hope the moulding on yours is better than mine - it had a huge sink hole in the nose cone which took a few rounds of filling to sort out but then the moulds are getting on for 50 years old!

It's taken a while but I finally finished a build this year! This is the 1/72 Hasegawa MV22 Osprey from the Winter Hovering SIG. The kit was ok, with a few alignment challenges, but the biggest problem I hit was the stencils in the after market set so the finished item is a hybrid of kit stencils with after market unit & national insignia.

So the f-5 Egg kit that I used for the MiG28 was a double-pack and here's the other one finished in one of the kit schemes from the Republic of Chinese Airforce (RoCAF). Aside from the masking for the camo scheme this was a fairly quick finish with no major weathering or anything.
