Hey Guys,
It's been a busy day at the bench - good stuff!
I have painted the base with different shades of concrete(?)-grey and also touch-up the surfaces with some warmer tones to get some variation.

After the Aqua gloss had dried next step was to add some washes, first starting with Ultimate Earth wash

...and then some Ultimate Concrete wash and finally a couple of dark spots with HGW Black wash. I blended everything together with a wet brush, leaving it to dry for 30-40 minutes.

I wanted to add some foliage to get a bit of contrast.

And this is the result, I'm happy with that

I must admit that this part of the build had probably been less difficult if I had moulded the concrete slabs in plaster instead of experimenting with styrofoam...
But the best way to learn is by doing mistakes...
So it's time to do the final weathering in order to complete the build. I used a soft brush to apply Light Dust and Concrete pigements on the base, running-gear to make the model "blend in" with the base. I also added pigment on the upper hull and turret to make it look more dusty.

Finallly I did a pinwash with Ultimate Rust in hinges and other places where rust collects.
One awesome thing about Ultimate Rust is that if you put a drop of it on a surface it will give a very bright orange "fresh-rust". Sometimes that is exactly what you want, but if you want a less bright colour, just let it dry and use a soft brush to carefully blend it in with the base-colour.

It's time to set up the camera and photo booth; there will soon be more pictures up in the Reveal section
To conclude this build; Tamiya have earned their reputation by doing kits of interesting objects that well engineered, easy to build and the result is a great looking model. The kits are not the cheapest ones around but they are not expensive if you think about it, because if you want more details than what Tamiya offers you will have get up a notch in price-level and/or add aftermarket parts.
This kit was no exception to that; the build went like a dream with parts that fitted together perfectly, instructions that where easy to understand and the resulting model had great details despite the relatively low part count. The rubber tracks worked perfect for this kit - no need for individual track links.
This is a great kit for a novice or someone that have just got back to the hobby, or an experience modeller that wants a relaxed build to restore mojo or just have some fun.
So... I certainly Love Tamiya
