Trumpeter 1/35 AS90 155 mm SPG

Post by Gav0909 »

Here is my first proper scale armour kit. I have over the years built plenty of Games Workshop tanks, and in more recent times plenty of small scale Flames of War tanks, but this is my first 1/35 armour kit.

I have used the BATUS style markings and paint scheme. The vehicle is relatively clean, but just some lightly airbrushed dust effects on the lower hull and mud flaps etc. I didn't want to risk my hard work by trying to add dust pigments, plus I don't have the right shade anyway.

That's a beautiful build gav, lovely paintwork, defo need some weathering, even if it s just a dust coating with some pigments.it would really finish it off.

i like this bad boy a lot :) not too much weathering which is appropriate for a modern vehicle, nevertheless extremely realistic. well done!

Cheers everyone.

I must admin that lately I have been gathering info on what other 1/35 modern SPG kits are available, with an eye to collecting most of them.

So far I have

Meng Models AUF1 (French SPG)
Trumpeter JGSDF Type 99 (Japanese SPG)
Academy RoK Army K9 (Korean SPG)
Tamiya M109 Paladin (US SPG)

When I get some cash (usual story) then I will be getting those kits and building them to add to my SPG collection.

I have seen that the MSTA is coming soon.

And I haven't forgotten the PzH 2000, my issue with that one is the kit itself. The details are a bit soft, and I am not sure if there are any PE replacement sets for it. I do love the PzH 2000 though, fav SPG after the AS90!

very little work is needed on the Pzh2000

its a beautiful kit and Yes.... simplified in places but its a Huge model and looks awesome
next to any German Army vehicles...

Image

you can easily modify the Net on the front basket ! by hand and tweak the Tarp Bracket on the
Rear hatch ! and you are done ! get the kit that has the Metal Barrel in the box... it helps the kit a lot ! I love mine !!! the Track grousers are missing on the Hull storage box but that's a minor thing ! If I could buy another I would !

Don't forget about the Hobby Boss DANA .. a must have as well !

What a great looking build. It looks as if it just rolled off a transport plane and is ready to rain hell on someone's parade. Well done.

I suppose it does look pretty good built up though Norm. What kit is that MLRS? As I would want to add one of those to my collection at somepoint as well.

Cheers Coen.
