Tutorials on how to make Gun slings and helmet straps?

Post by generalgrog »

I would like to add some detail to my 1/35 tamiya German infantry. I haven't been very successful in finding photo etch for this.
Does anyone have a tutorial link or an idea about how to scratch build gun slings and helmet straps?

Any help would be appreciated.

I thought about this a little bit and I think I am going to just sculpt some slings, and straps with "green stuff" sculpting putty.

I'll put a tutorial in my build.

Masking tape can be used to make slings, straps, and tie downs.

I use lead foil. I used to get it from wine bottles, but now they are made out of a paper. Most hobby shops sell foil. I've tried putty, but with little success. Also, electric tape that has had the adhesive side removed also works well.

Good luck,

I usually use lead foil or simply paper. I glue both types of straps with instant glue.

try using tamiya masking tape, cut it to size and secure with superglue and then give the tape a very thin layer of superglue to harden it

might be of some help

I use the foil package from my new scalpel blades...
And masking tape.
Both works perfect for me :thumb2:
