Recommend a Group Build
If you fancy a GB on something in particular then post below.
Remember - GB's have quite a wide remit so it would need to be a quite general subject. For a more focused subject go to the SiG section....

My ideas
I always think it good to try to do GB or sigs that are out of your normal modeling area/comfort zone. I think it makes it more interesting.

I'd like to try a civil aircraft gb as I have one in the stash and like the comradeship of a GB, probably more an SIG though.

Not sure how broad this would be - today and tomorrow, so build stuff in use now and vehicles which will see service in the future ie F-35.

Re: Recommend a Group Build
For civilian in a GB would be anything civilian (non-military) rather than just vehicles or airplanes, if you get what I'm saying. The more specific titles like civilian aircraft would be an ideal SiG subject....

Re: Recommend a Group Build
I like the idea of doing a civilian vehicle SIG.
It would be a bike for me, especially motogp. There are a few kits out there so we could do our own motogp grid.
Just realised I'm going on about SIGs and not GB's Dur!
Correction: Civilian GB - yes

Alright then just one more:-
Something to creatively use up all the broken kits and spares - turn a plane into a tank, or a tank into a plane?
Or any other vehicle but made from spares and so is unique and invented.

On a more serious note in support of Craven who has been patiently waiting for six months for a WW1 GB/SIG, I'd like to support that.
Then I thought of the steampunk/cyberpunk themes and WWI stuff could be used and combined with all kinds for some imaginative models.

Classic Ford.....
From Model T to RS500......
Maybe Cortinas, escorts, sierras, old pre-war, war and post-war Fords?
Swinging 60's..... All cars from 1960-1970 any make or model...?
Do like the WW1 idea also to go WW1 steam punk.......
Maybe a very what if along the lines of " if Axis won the war" idea?
Could do a "Hunt for Red October" build in memory of Tom Clancy?
That's my input guys.... Some crazy ideas off the top of my head, mostly auto based but I haven't seen many builds on the forum car based..... Or sub based for that matter?
Happy modelling ..

Anything grey - includes ships, marine planes and helicopters, cars, soldiers, early war German armour, Sci Fi.
Quite open really once you start thinking about it - so very inclusive and that's the idea of GBs

Artillery. Prob more for a Sig, but still covers quite a range. Ok so aircraft only guys are out, but then they were out in the Figure and WoT SIGs to so I think that's ok.
Covers towed artillery peices (surprising number of kits for such), self propelled howizters, railway guns (Lee), land based naval guns etc.

I don't know if it's an idea for a SIG or a GB... but Star Wars.
Anything from the books, cartoons, tv specials, movies. any scale.
Or the same thing in Star Trek.
Both universe's (I don't think you can pluralise that word) are big enough that almost anything can go.

Re: Recommend a Group Build
Whoa Sprue, that's idea overload - but some great suggestions!!
Especially like the idea of hi-gloss tanks - bit like Pimp My Tank. I can see it now, flame design on the front and go-faster stripes. Hatches open to reveal HUGE bass-bins!!!
On a serious note, WW1 would be interesting - saw a great military horse drawn gun model on a site the other day

Vintage kits from the 50's and 60's...... Wow there's some work.....
WW1 is gonna be a safe bet what with the centenary about to come about....
Tanks of WW1 or Trench warfare dio's a plenty....
Think as a forum who are interested in armour and the two great wars, a GB or SiG would be a great tribute to all the fallen.
I also like the Star Wars / Star Trek idea.... I have a little scratch build I got my mind set on....

Re: Recommend a Group Build
Howdy folks
I have in mind two ideas of th GBs quite specific and related somehow (or directly) to computer games + one idea from ... (quoting The Police) Oppenheimer deadly toys.
Proposal #1
"If it flies, it dies" or "If I can't fly, no one flies"
It comes from Borderlands 1 game where there was a challenge - kill xx number of rakks (Pandoran birdlike creatures).
So the proposal would be - build any kind of ground equipment (stationary, mounted, self propelled) that was developed as an anti-aircraft equipment.
Limits would be quite standard:
1) any kit,
2) any scale,
3) kit not started before GB starts,
4) scratch, dios, aftermarket allowed.
Proposal #2
"Chuck Yaeger Air Combat"
Well this is somehow personal - that's the game that caught me into nets of flightsims, love for aircraft in general
The proposal would be - build any of the aircraft that was "flyable" in CYAC game:
1) only kits of following airplanes: P-51 Mustang, F-86 Sabre, F-4E Phantom, Fw.190, MiG-15 and MiG-21. (we can extend list to AI flown planes);
2) any scale,
3) kit not started before GB starts,
4) scratch, dios, aftermarket allowed.
Proposal #3
"Now I am become Death, (the destroyer of worlds)"
This quote from Song of the Bhagavan was quoted by Oppenheimer and therefore I suggest it for build of anything that is related to ...
Weapons of mass destruction. That would be any weapon system or weapon carrier (ship, airship, ground equipment) that was capable of carrying any nuclear / atomic weapons.
Again rules pretty standard:
1) any kit,
2) any scale,
3) kit not started before GB starts,
4) scratch, dios, aftermarket allowed.
What do you think about these props ?:)
Kind regards,
Radek

How about a:
Group Build with significant and obligatory scratch build and or modding or total cannibalisation of your model, like a crashed plane, a half sunken ship or knocked out tank!
It can be anything you like. Be it WWII (in my case
), post war, cold war, planes, cars, figures or what have yah..
Nobody has to come out of his or her comfort zone, accept for the scratch build or modding, if that is something you
haven't done befor..
Who's up for that?

Build anything you like as long as it ISN'T a kit.
that would be a challenge for everyone (Well maybe not for Wappy).

Now there's a man with an idea... I have two things that I'd build for that one.
Yeah... Andy.. get your coat buddy. haha.
Re: Recommend a Group Build
I always thought a post apocalyptic vehicle build would be pretty cool. Along the lines of mad max. Could include any vehicle. Cars, Armour, planes, trucks, ships etc, but give it that "end of the world, scavenging for food and gas while fending off crazy hoards of armed survivors" feel. phew
Anyhow, you could kit bash and scratch build pretty much any existing kit, and with this theme your imagination would be the only limitation.

Build anything you like as long as it ISN'T a kit.
that would be a challenge for everyone (Well maybe not for Wappy).
Now there's a man with an idea... I have two things that I'd build for that one.![]()

Yeah... Andy.. get your coat buddy. haha.
and as always, got 3 or 4 scratch builds rolling round in my head waiting for the off..... LOL..
A star wars and a couple of Dr Who, it being the 50th year and all......
I think I have some competition now though... ( have you seen that Frans and CrackedCubes' work?? ) and I noted a couple of others who would put me to shame too i'm sure...
Thanks for thinking of me though guys....

I would like to do "Road cars and or Racing Cars" Its the one area on this forum that there does not seem to many builds of. As i live and breath cars it would be awesome to do a group build with.
Re: Recommend a Group Build
Oh yeah... Now that I'd sign up for too.. Another test the skills and test the waters GB. Great idea!
And you're right we are lacking in that genre. Sadly.
