You'll do this Nige, got every faith matey....
Think Positive thoughts all the way dude...... After the fit issues and panel line crisis, painting will be a breeze to pull into shape.
Good luck and happy modelling thoughts...

Ah Crap!
You'll pull it out of the fire Nigel.
Put it aside for a few days, work on something different for a bit.
Remember... it's supposed to be fun.

Re: Italeri Mirage III E 1:48
Cheers guys so following Coens advice i only picked it up again tonight for the second coat on the camo and it will need a 3rd coat. I think humbrol must have changed the recipe of thier paint as ive shook it and stired it really well and his still really thin.
Any way on with the photo.

so on with the next coat tomorrow and sould be ready for the gloss coat over the weekend.
On a better note pass all elements of my course so it just practice now and getting a bit of experience on the kit and i should be ready for looking for a good job lol

Re: Italeri Mirage III E 1:48
Well done on both fronts Nigel.
That is a cool camo pattern buddy.
Even though it's the first coat it's looking pretty freaking good!
It's too bad about that paint, could it just be a bad tin?
I've had that happen with other brands.
It happens a lot here in the winter if I order paint.
I don't usually order it in the winter because it can get frozen during transit. Not the best thing to do to paint.
It could also just be a badly mix tin, or it has a contaminant.

Re: Italeri Mirage III E 1:48
Thats the second coat mate and the undercoat was the same (3 coats needed) to be honest all of the recent paint ive bought has been the same i used to have to thin it down to get an even coat but now it needs thickening up which i have no idea how to do but its making it a nightmare to brush paint just runs everywhere and it NEVER did that before i am hoping got get an air brush soon but when is anyone's guess.Coen wrote:Well done on both fronts Nigel.

Hi Nige. I have just read this through from the start - I just love your persistence with this and it is paying off with a cracking looking model.
On the paints (I take it that they are enamels) -if you want it thicker, could you let the tin stand for a few days and wick-off the clear-ish binder leaving the thicker pigments behind? I once saw a chap using a bow pen with Humbrols and this is what he did to get to the consistency he required.

Re: Italeri Mirage III E 1:48
Cheers guys
Right decal time because of the size of some of these decals i thought i was in for a right PITA but these are the best decals i have EVER worked with came of the backing paper with in a second or two bedded down really well and really thin and they look great well enough waffle on with the pictures and see for your self.

So i noticed some touching up that need doing so i will do that then on with some more klear and a panel wash then one more coat of gloss then put all the wheels on then she is done.
thanks for looking.

Was the big green decal all in one piece or two parts Nige? Looks like it would have been a bit of a bugger, looks like you got it on just right though.
Re: Italeri Mirage III E 1:48
Yeah, that monster green one must have been a PITA?
The big one on the lab pending gear to. Trying to get that to line up would have been fun!!

Re: Italeri Mirage III E 1:48
None of them where any trouble the big one was all 1 piece and when on like a dream almost as if it knew where to go same with shield on the bottom only problems where the stripes on the wing lining them up but that was fairly easy and just a little long so i had to cut them down so crap kit but fantastic decals would highly recommend Italeri decals.
