Question for the upcoming Tamiya GB

Post by chief5437 »

Quick question for the powers that be.

As the gb will be out of the box, is it acceptable to use additions from Tamiya?

For example, if I built a Tamiya tank, can a Tamiya figure set be added, or building a tamiya ship, and adding tamiya aircraft?

As the figure set could technically be built as its own entry, can they be combined?

Just curious before I start getting things ready.

Thanks guys :th:

Edit: I don't mean tamiya PE or anything like that, just stuff that can be bought as a stand alone kit.

I'd wait for the official word, but it seems to me so long as none of the kits have aftermarket combination might be ok. I'm curious now, too :)

I think aftermarket is aftermarket regardless and not OOB so my guess would be no.

OOB means OOB gents. No extras, combining kits nor scratch building of any kind.

You can only use what's supplied in the box of the kit you choose, simple as :th:
Where does all the bloody time go.....?

What about using the sprues that come in the box say for ariels? Or filling ? I take it all other modeling products can be used for the build like styrene sheet for packing out gaps? Or do we just not take any pics of those stages lol

Most of the tamiya kits I've built actually tell you to use sprue for the antennas, so technically that's still oob?

Can I build an Airfix kit? I like Airfix kits. I don't like Tamiya kits but I want to be able to comment on them. :nena:

Holy crud I've gone mad. I've been reading too many of the comments sections on the BBC Olympics coverage. I now believe it to be compulsory to join a feed on a subject I have no interest in and then spew a load of vomit on it.

Only joking fellahs - I love Tamiya but all the Tamiya kits in my stash have got (or will be getting) aftermarket. I will content myself by watching my fellow artists and cheering you all on.

UNLESS, unless I get another Tamiya kit? Holy wallets Batman, I think I've reasoned out an excuse to hit the shops again - SWEET
Its been tried and tested, it works! So don't blame the system if you're no good.

The general consensus lately is that you need to go to the LHS for paint. Then you're guaranteed to walk out with a new kit and no paint.

You called it mate. I was a nightmare for my parents when I was younger too. The number of times I went out for something sensible and came home with a Star Wars book

Not sure of The Fast Show made it o the US but this sums it up perfectly!!

Can it be any tamiya kit in any scale as long as you use only what comes in the box ?

Ah, ok. I always thought group builds were everybody building the same kit, as in the same subject, scale and manufacturer.
