PzBefWg Panther Ausf. G, Dragon in 1/35 scale

Post by HotziSlayer »

Hi everyone!

Here is my entry for the great "dangerous cat" SiG, cant wait to start, this evening

Image

I love the Panther Ausf. G with Steelwheels, first i thought about to build the Tamiya one but then i got this cheap, and iam happy to say; this is a great kit.

The kit is from 1997 and you cant compare it to the new Dragon kits, but considering that this kit is 17 years old, its great.
The mould is great and there is even a great Steel structure on the upper Hull etc. Really cool.
I didnt made a choice yet about the camoflague, but i think i will go for a really late war green-dark yellow thing, dont know yet...

Due to the fact i bought this on "ebay" iam hoping that the kit is complete but iam very confident, and it doesnt look like something is missing.

The Sprues:

Some Eduard Photoetched parts i will use:

And finaly some original pictures of the steel wheeled panther:

Now what i have to say more? I hope you will have fun following my building Thread for this great SiG.

Lets start the Game!

Greets, Hotzi.

I will be watching this build. i have never seen an older imperial kit get put together.

Also that photoetch is beautiful, much better than the stuff I got for my Tamiya.

(small) Update no. 1:

I sanded the wheels, and constructed the running gear. everything fits very good so far. the intructions are nice and self-explaining.

i decided not to use the tracks from the kit, so i ordered friul panther tracks late. the tracks from the kit are ok, but they need much extrawork to fit well into another.

tonight i have some time to continue with the panther, maybe i will post some more pics later.

greets, hotzi!

Here we go. I had some more time for modelling in the last days, so i did some work on the Panther.

Upper Hull was constructed and i added some nice Eduard PE's, the Number of the set is "TP064"

Image

The parts under the fan grilles were painted black to create depth.

Image

Image

Next step will be the construction of the turret. I will add some scrath build parts to the canon aperture.

See you soon, Hotzi.

Painting Part 1:

Unfortunately i forgot to take pictures of the preshading, so here are the pics of the finished camo and detail painting.

For the camo i used AK "RAL 6011B Resedagrün AK 716" "RAL 8017 Schokobraun AK 718" and "Dunkelgelb (Initial) AK 753"

Iam not that happy with the camo, but i think it will look better after washing.

For the details i used Revell Arcyls.

So here are the Pics;

The Track:

The Tank:

Next step will be the washing and other deatils like rust and dust. I will use Vallejo and Mig products for this.

It's the "Kommandanten-Beobachtungsgerät TSR 1" (Commanders observation unit). It's like a periscope from an u-boat. :thumb2:

As far as I know, this was only used in Command or Artillery-Observation Tanks/Verhicles.
