Dragon StuG III Ausf. F/8 Late Production--with a Twist

Post by wbill76 »

Managed to get my latest project across the finish line. I'd been wanting to build Dragon's kit #6644, the StuG III F/8 Late Production w/Winterketten, for a while but really didn't want to do one in whitewash...and found the perfect 'odd ball' subject to fill the niche. Hardly any StuGs served in North Africa, but in January 1943 a small group of 6 F/8s were shipped over (only 4 made it, 2 were lost at sea) and formed StuG Battery 90 under the 10 Pz. Div. where they served until the capitulation in May 1943.

So here's my take on the subject, hope you enjoy! ;)

Thanks AP! I didn't know about them either until I stumbled across it in the Spielberger StuG & Variants book and it captured my imagination. ;)

Thanks Han! It's always interesting to me when a little bit of history can be tied to a particular build. ;)

Alex, thanks for the kind words as well. Africa subjects always provide some neat opportunities IMHO especially with the Tropen schemes.
