White Toro Toyota Corolla WRC Portuguese Rally 1999

Post by RicRodrigues »

Just on the deadline limit but it was finished, the Toyota Corolla WRC driven by Carlos Sainz on the Portuguese Rally in 1999. A good kit by Hasegawa, not excellent though: loads of good details on the interior but no engine detail at all. Despite having heard wonders about the Cartograph decals, the ones in this kit are not that amazing and it was a nightmare to apply, specially around the corners and bends. At the end I'm happy with the result and this kit helped me a lot to improve my skills. Thanks for watching!!!!!

I think I saw this trick the first time on build here on ISM forum, someone who was building an Afrikakorps Kubelwagen. It's very easy. First I took the windshield masking set and applied tamyia masking tape on the windshield empty space. Then, using the wipers (before assembling them on the model) I free-handed draw the wipers marks on the masking tape. Cut masking wiper marks, apply them on the windshield. To create the dirt effect on the model I airbrushed Ultimate Light Dirt wash all over the body, including the clear parts. Once the wash was dried, remove the masking tape and voilá!!! I still have the masking sheet here, it might give you an idea!!!

I'll try to find the build log of that Kubelwagen and I'll leave the link here... :cheers2: :cheers2: :cheers2:

Not the Kubelwagen I've seen, but found this in a portuguese modeling forum, hope this helps the process I've used...

And just because good ideas and good work must be recognised (and I'm too poor to face a court for copyright rules :nena: :nena: ), here it is the link to the original images: http://www.forum.modelismo-na.net/viewt ... =9&t=18966
