Hahaha! Unfortunately the smaller one is not in good shape :( He's riddled with hemobartonella and other aches and pains, but he'll survive; his vet is getting rich though! Cheers Michael! :cheers2:

I really like your other builds so I can't wait to see you put this Tiger together. I will be taking notes of your build and use them to try to make mine better. :th: :

Haha! You're too kind :D Be careful with those notes :o I've got Art College notions but I'm a scale modeller beginner; this is going to be my first Tiger and actually I'm still out of any kind of scale comfort zone. Thanks mate!!

Tiger I SIG in Honour of Coen Update 1

I started assembling the lower hull

Image

Next I went on building and sanding the endless wheels

Image

I damaged and attached the exhaust protectors

Image

Image

I damaged the rear fenders as well

Image

I went on working with the lower hull

Image

Time to work with the deck

Image

I added the PE grills with super-glue

Image

I continued with the canon

Image

I primed the parts which can be seen through the vent grills

Image

Later on I painted the vents with copper and compartments in metalic black

Image

Some details were added and finished

Image

Image

That's the look of it...

Image

Finally, I added the wheels

Image

And following Coen's advise I used pins and superglue to fix the tracks

Image

The model is built...

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

That's it. There are a few details I have to take care of like track sagging, spare tracks and lamps. Once I'm definitively finished I'll start the painting process. See you on the next update! :cheers2:

Coen's Tiger SIG: Tiger I Mid-Production (Dragon) Update 2

I primed the Tiger with black primer

Image

Then I airbrushed it with dark yellow and sand yellow acrylics. There's a slight modulation; the top is lighter (sand) and the lower parts are darker (dark yellow and a bit of black in the wheel section)

Image

I'm preparing exposed parts for a future hairspray chipping. I'm using a "rusty" acrylic mix. Once I'm done I fix it with matt varnish

Image

Now I'm spraying with Zohan's best hairspray artistic moves

Image

I've done a little unorthodox thing here... I've covered the rusty parts with generous layers of acrylic paint, my aim is to create a disitinctive raised area which will allow me to scrath the right spots. Right now the tones are different, but I'll airbrush it again to obtain homogeneity. Wet acrylics have softened a bit the hairsprayed areas but it's not unexpected, it adds visual interest

Image

I've airbrushed the affected areas carefully. There is a homogeneous colour but the exposed parts are slightly bubbled

Image

Image

Image

No pressure regulation in my compressor, so...I'll have to make do with my hand and a brush

Image

Image

I've dimmed the camo patterns aiming the airbrush carefully and spraying the whole thing very softly

Image

Finally, I've wetted and chipped those key exposed surfaces with an old brush and a tooth stick... I think it's looking cool

Image

There's still a lot of work to do: Tracks, wheels, details etc, plus weathering effects....The deadline is close.. so I'll try to speed it up!
See you soon!! :cheers2:

Thank you Michael :D There was a bit of improvisation, I wasn't going to use the Zohan technique so I painted it in dark yellow...and then I said to myself...Why not? That's why I added rust paint so late in the process. I'm glad you like the result! It's an honour!!

I went on painting tracks with iron + gun grey

Image

Image

I painted tools and cables as well, varying proportions with iron, gun grey, mahogany and black acrylics

Image

Image

I also painted wooden handles and the jack box

Image

I applied a layer of matt varnish to fix everything and prepare surfaces for decals and weathering

Image

Finally, I applied AK track wash on the tracks. So, that's it for now; the Tiger is ready to be weathered....

Tiger I SIG in Honour of Coen Update 3 & Final Reveal

I added the decals

Image

I applied a dot filter using oils and turpentine

Image

Since this SIG is in honour of Coen....I'm going to add... a GOAT, of course

Image

Image

There was a big seam along the spine which I covered with putty

Image

I prepared a dio base with styrofoam

Image

Following Mr Barkas teachings I covered the surface with white clay

Image

I mixed sand and soil

Image

...and prepared Mr Barkas recipe stirring the concoction with white glue and water

Image

I covered the dio surface with this porridge; Yummy!

Image

The mix will dry in 24h. Time for goat priming

Image

Painted! It's going to need a wash

Image

While the goat is being sanitised and protected from playful predators, I'll deal with the turf

Image

I'm using a spray to prime it because in the past Vallejo primer didn't get on with my formerly deceased airbrush

Image

I used this mix to obtain these tones. I also applied camo stripes on the sides. I found the knob which regulates pressure... (you have to pull it up and turn) yeah...I know... I'm a knoob

Image

I applied a black ink wash

Image

The wash dried in a few minutes. Then I drybrushed the terrain highlighting and darkening different areas

Image

I added a little bit of green...

Image

...and not so green grass

Image

Finally, I just planted a few tall grass stalks

Image

I painted some foliage which I'm going to add in a later phase

Image

Love rust

Image

This is how the tank looks after the dot filter and a dark wash

Image

I painted more iron + oxide details

Image

A pin wash was needed

Image

I chipped additional parts

Image

I rubbed graphite on sharp edges

Image

I started adding light rust on the exhausts

Image

I went on with darker pigments

Image

That's it. Ready?

Image
