Replacement filters for spray booths

Hi,

From seeing over the past year or so people purchasing the inexpensive portable air booths, and getting hit with expensive filter replacements, I decided to find an alternative.

This may apply to the expensive large table top versions too.

As you may know, the replacement filters are $10 each, and at least for me get pretty dirty pretty fast.

As of now I cut regular, furnace filter to size to protect the factory filters, but this does not last long either, it does prolong the life, and if I changed it out more often would preserve it indefinitely.

However, I wanted a long term solution without having to jerry rig an air filter .

So I found this roll of filter, that all I have to do is make one cut, and pop it in.



So instead of $10 each, they should come to about .25$ each.


I am not a numbers guy and this is all theoretical, does anyone else do this, and does any one see a flaw before I order.

The roll is 16"-85' (1,020") by 1 inch thick. $32 for 136 filters .25 each

Current filter is 16"-7.25" by 7/8" thick, $10 each

One of you big brains check my numbers please.

one of the things you need to remember, if this is anything like loft roll insulation, it will fragment into smaller bits when handled..
This means be careful NOT to breathe it in , and handle with gloves , as it will cut your skin...

No not any thing like roll insulation, it is furnace filter in bulk, cut to fit, mostly for commercial use.

Check out the different dimensions.

For me I am filtering it so the fan won't gum up, not sure where the exhaust goes for yours, but there may be a work around the 90£

Mines a benchvent a300 and yeah it vents outside

Could not find yours listed on the Benchvent site, but the filters all look relatively standard. Bet you could find something to at least work as an inexpensive prefilter, and prolong the factored ones life's.

To be honest for the performance my booth gives i don't mind the expense

I bought one this year as well. Haven't even used it yet as I need to set it up.

And yes, the filters are expensive!!

An update!

For those of us that do have the small portable spray booths as I previously posted a link to.

I have not yet ordered the bulk filter, but will soon, and cut to fit, which is basically one cut with scissors and you should save about $9.75 per filter, which cost $10.00 plus shipping/

So I haven't ordered and am done to one spare new filter, so I decided to try washing the filter that is covered in paint.

I got it soaking wet in the kitchen sink, then used dish soap on it, which removed most of the paint then I saturated it in Windex, which is basically blu ammonia.

I would say 97% of the paint came out. The two pieces of the filter are drying now and I will update this thread once i see how they work.

It looks to me that I can wash them maybe once more, so that would be three uses for the filter.

However, when I order the bulk stuff, I will then be to lazy to wash them, lol.

PLESE NOTE: I air brush Acrylic paint, no enamels.
