Esci 1:35 LAV 25 Post Apocalyptic Wehicle

Post by Scaleman »

So I culd not get any of the kits I wanted to do for this build, then I rememberd I had a old 8 weeled LAV 25 its going to need some detailing, but lacking detail the paintjob and scratchbuilding will make up a large part of this build, also fit issues and sanding. I got the chassi and base together very quickly as it didnt have any huge fit issues other than the mold had shifted a bit, but the major 3 hull parts fitted very nice. I got the chassi and major parts together last night.

Of cause I have to add some figures and I got a unbuilt MB bike somewhere just got to find it.
Image
Shiny weels with sink marks we got to do something about this, lets add some weel protection, they still need some sanding and cutting out the thread cause the mold didnt match.Image

Found some spareparts from a tank, lets mod theese.

Very few steps on lower and upper hull, I added a exaust pipe from some copper tubing.

Tested to sand the weel hub, also added damage to the steelplates

This part had to go, I will build my own basket instead of this solid one later.
Image
Last thing of my build session was to drill out and fill all the large holes, I did this with black styrene to be able to see were the holes were, on every heated rod, ust the end parts wich are cone shaped, and Tamiya extra thin will melt them to form a full surface wich can be drilled, compared to normal filler.
Image
Day 2 and the pins have fully cured and they are cut of and sanded down.

Compared to recent models of the LAV this one does not have 400 parts, this is most of the detail parts, Im going to add a few myself.

And sorry for the upside down pictures, Iwe edited them in photo bucket, after I save them and choose save and replace, they flip back again, So I dont know what to do with them. Iwe had major problems with photobucket, not doing what I want it to do, like this.

So after a bit of absence this build has ahd its merry way I took pictures that I showed on hangouts but I forgot to post them here. I finnished it on the ISM hangout today. The figures was really nice and Im looking forward to getting the rest of the series, I coose to not use the "crawler" she was not finnished and in the end she didnt fit in the base, so its better to keep it to anonther build than shove it in there. Anyway heres some more progress pictures and the LAV painted and weathered. I painted it in rust then used the hairspray chipping method with a 3 tone nato camo, I made it really dusty and rusty like it had been abadoned for a while and tried to add streaks as there had been rain on the dust. I built a small base with radiated water, but there is a bit of life coming back in form of flowers. I will post the final result in the finnished section for this GB. If someone reads this thank you for following and commenting. Jonas
