Hi guys! :th:

Here's my entry to the WW1 sig. Emhars 1/35 Whippet Mk A medium tank.

I've never built an Emhar kit before, so no idea what to expect!

Here's some pics of what's in the box.

First impressions
No apparent flash on the parts, only slight seams on tubular parts like exhausts. Plastic is very thick and strangely hard. Not sure how that's going to affect the build?!
Tracks are ok(ish), they're kind of link and length, but they're also flexible. Not flexible like the usual rubber tracks, more like the stuff poly caps are made from. Again, not sure how they'll turn out? Lol!

Destructions are a little strange. They have the usual pictoral assy diagram, then a sequence of numbers showing what order to add the parts. Simple enough, but just looking can be a bit awkward!
You see the first number in the sequence, then find that in the pic, then look for the next number in the sequence, then find that in the pic, and so on. Needless to say, I won't be doing that! :bash:

There are three or possibly six decal options?! There's three main options, two Brit and one Ger. then another scheme that is some wierd mish mash of three types. No explanation as to what's going on there, so I'll avoid it! Also, for the main options, there's no info on what units are being depicted, so a bit of research will be in order for that.

As for the decals, I've never seen any quite like it. They're very flat, but have a very strange look on the backing card. That's not to say they won't work, just look a bit wierd.

So that's it for now, I'll try and identify what tanks were with what unit, then I'll post up some bumf on the whippet.

Thanks for looking, and good luck with your builds! :cheers2: :cheers2:

PS I thought Emhar were a Brit company, but turns out these are made in China. Boo!

Those WW1 tanks had some weird angular and straight line structures. Good luck with your build, Chief....I'm certain this will turn out cracking like the rest of your builds! :thumb1:

Looks like it will go together easy enough.

Nice choice. :th:

Fine choice, really like these slightly faster 'cavalry tanks'.

Update time! Thanks for commenting!

@DC, have you been away? Haven't seen any posts in a while.

Made a fair bit of headway on this, it's a straight forward build.

6 main steps giving sub assys

Sub assys put together.

Primed and tracks on.

Image

Had to make a slight alteration to get the tracks on.

Image

And a bit of a problem with track length!

Image

Then it was out with the filler to fill some gaps. I didn't go mad though, I wanted to leave some small gaps between the riveted panels.

Image

Base coat and decals on.

Image

The decals were rubbish! Really thick and brittle. However, that ended up working in my favour, as I could chip at them with a tooth pick to give a chipped flaky paint effect on worn areas.

And that's it for now.

Now I've got this and the Bergepanther to the weathering stage, I'm hoping to work on both at the same time. So I should (fingers crossed) make some better progress!:

Anyway, thanks for looking :th: :th: :cheers2:

Hi guys :th: final update.

Gave the whippet a pin wash of dark green, and some very light streaking and a little weathering.

I stopped there, for two reasons. First being I was getting bogged down in weathering and i was in danger of losing interest. Second, I thought it looked pretty cool as it was! Lol!

To that end, I'm calling this done.

Image

Not a bad kit, my first Emhar, tracks could be a lot better. Moulding is a bit basic, but given the design of the tank, it's not really an issue. Guns could be better as well.

Anyway, more pics in the reveal section.

Thanks for checking it out guys :cheers2: :cheers2:

Excellent work on this very unusual tank. I really like the red and white bands which are a good contrast against the green.

Nice!
Lovely kit :thumb2:
I like the painting, and for me it would be enough weathering.
Unless you'll decide to let it run stuck in the mud. ..

And with me not competing you Might win this

do you feel lucky? Punk..... :pistols:
