No window

Post by conradschmid99 »

I'm setting up my spray booth when I realize that the window next to it doesn't open... non of them do
Where do I put the hose

If the booth has a filter in it and your using acrylics you could just run it without the hose.

Other wise we'd need to know more to come up with options, unfinished basement? Use another window? Longer hose?

Get a core drill and make a hole, depending on wall type, it'll only take an hour or so.

Chiefs got it right, it can be hard work, but they are fairly cheap to hire and its the best solution.

Spraying into the booth filter may well catch most of the paint particles, but you still have the paints solvent fumes floating about the place and they will soon have an effect on you, not good for your health at all

The only thing wrong with that is that I live in a rental house and I'm not allowed to drill any holes!

Does the room have an existing extractor fan that you can put the hose up against?

I guess the rental regulations in Texas are different to the UK as here all windows have to open in a rental house.

Exactly! It is law regardless which country. All windows need to be operational in case of egress. Get a hold of your landlord and get him/her to unstick them. If he refuses file a complaint with the tenancy board.

I don't want to get into any trouble with the land lord...
would something like this work as an alternative?

Because you are back to square one with that. e.g not extracting the nauseous/toxic fumes.

I understand not wanting to PO your landlord, but then again the windows should not be stuck. If it a small pane, replace it with plywood with a hole cut into to fit your exhaust hose, with the understanding that you intend to replace the pane before moving out.

The other option is to only use acrylics, and wear a face mask when spraying, which you should be doing anyway.

How far is the distance to another room with a window that can open as buying some DIY store tubing and sealing it to the spray booth hose must be an option?

none of the windows open
I guess I could run a hose to the back door, or paint outside.

Hose to the back door would seem the best option.

None of the windows open?! Wow, I guess safety is a dirty word in the US!
