International Scale Modeller

hello to all
here are my reveal pictures of my Halifax build
this plane resembles a mk.II series I used by the No.405 Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force based in Topcliffe England as it was used in July 1942

















so there it is
my entry in the 100 years of bomber group build
this has been a big learning process for me as this is the first plane i build in some years
it is the first english bomber i ever build aswell and the first time i used a airbrush on a plane
but it was good fun even with the snapped off parts and the paint problem
so i hope you like the result and i will be seeing you on the forum or next group build

i'm just happy that she is done this was my bad luck build
half the glue that is on there is used for repairs instead of the actual construction

i could have picked a subject that was a bit simpler in the paint tough
these English planes do need a lot of masking

i'm glad you like it
it was a bit of a learning experiance for me as this was the first plane in years
but i'm happy with the result concidering my skills on the subject
but for now i'm looking forward to the night fighter build
so i can have another try at a plane but in a different scale so the masking should be a bit easyer
or i can have a test run before that on one of the two other planes in my stash ,should get some paint tough
but we'll see about that

i didn't think i would be the first to finish but i made a smaller kit then some others
and it is a kit that can be build pretty fast since there was little cleaning work on it
the paint took much longer then the building and that was mainly due to masking
wich as a armor builder i'm not used to
but i started a new build yesterday so lets see if i learned something with this one

and yes it was a not so plesant masking session
so just to try it i ordered a masking set for my second entry maybe it will speed up the process

glad you like this build of a in my opinion some what forgotten plane
as it is less known then the Lancaster and the B-17
but that is what history does to some vehicles and planes

How did I miss it? The ancient art of Inefficiency, that's how! I'm good at missing things

At the RAF museum at Collindale/Hendon (well worth a visit if you are ever in London) they have on display a Halifax which was rescued from the bottom of a Fjord in Norway - it is in a pitiful condition but IMHO that makes the exhibit even more powerful.
