Tamiya 1/35 Panzer II Ausf. F/G

So, my first foray into the dark side (armour) and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it! I want to thank Luis and who ever else came up with the idea of a quick PzII SiG. With so many inspiring entries it has been a joy and an honour to build my first AFV along side you guys :th:

There are a lot of things I know I've done wrong and will do different on my next armour build, which hopefully look a lot better than this (why I saved the PE set...lol). Would love to hear any constructive criticism which might help me on my next build, what ever that may be.....

I used Mr Hobby paints, AK streaking rust, with Ultimate dark dirt wash on the hull with Ultimate mud, rust and light dirt on the tracks with a dry brush of Tamiya no11. I wanted to make the PzII dustier, but bottled it at the last minuets because if I cocked it up I didn't have enough time to rectify it, I may finish it off at a later date.

I also bought a background that I had to construct and bastardise from two sets, which I think looks cool. I know it doesn't suit this model as kit is for the Afrika corps, but wanted to see what it looked like in photos...

Don't forget, it's my first crack at armour, please be gentle....lol

Well done Lee sir.... she looks excellent mate..
You'll be joining the 1/16 Tiger I Buddy build next then?? :D
You are right in saying about dusting the kit up a bit, but played it safe by not in case you fluffed it up..
Hopefully we will see this dirtied up in the new year with some figures added for a diorama??
Oh and I love the street diorama, little too clean and tidy for me but as a display for completed models ( a bit like Coen's Walled garden ) it rocks!..

Well done again on your first Armour..

True... they are now.. but not when that Panzer would have been driving down them!!:
Most major cities in Europe looked like hell on earth during those days!
Sad, Bad times......

Awesome work Lee, great job for your first armour build!    You did a great job on the camo (which is actually for a Pz II Ausf F in use in Stalingrad, so the background does work :D ) and the rust streaking! Your work on the tracks is great too, and the light dust effects on the wheels are superb!!! :D :D :D

Helpful constructive criticism? More mud/dust/dirt, (though right now it's perfect for a lightly used vehicle) and the rust streaks are a bit too uniform; they appear to have equal spacing between them in some locations. But other than that, great work Lee!!!!! :thumb1: :thumb2: :th:

Nothing can be said about your painting an weathering Lee, other than they are freaking well done!
Accuracy aside you've done a fantastic job on her. You should be really proud, those close ups really showed her off and the effects didn't break down with the decreased view distance. That's hard to pull off.
There are a few tiny things that should be a bit different in the accuracy department, but that's irrelevant. For a first shot at armour accuracy is not important, skills with the weathering and painting are.... You nailed those :th: :th: :th:

Thanks fellas :D

As for accuracy, I don't care too much about it if I'm honest, I just enjoy the build :th:

Fantastic work Lee, very well done!! :th: :th:

Love the camo and I really like the weathering. Personally I find it hard to get it right on the smaller tanks as its easy to overdo it, but you've got it spot it - very nice! :cheers2:

And that's the MOST important thing of them all.

Great build Lee, the paint isn't a great surprise that you nailed it ;)
