Sorry guys, no photo etch or resin parts for me for this kit. This is only my second ever tank and my skills arnt photo etch worthy yet I will however attempt my first attempt of a bit of different weathering techniques on this build. So its basically box stock for this one.

Thanks Paul. Im going to be trying some new weathering techniques (to me as Ive never weathered anything), and may give it a bit of a twist paint job wise putting a bit of my own twist to it. Ive been looking at different research reference material and came to find some had gold tracks. So I may try to weather the tracks up to look a bit goldish. Not sure yet just throwing it around.

Did a little work on the Panzer II tonight. Got the priming of the parts done. Im not one to build a complete model and then paint it after its all assembled as I dont feel Im good enough with the airbrush to do so just yet. So I like the prime and paint all my parts before I assemble the model. So I got the priming done tonight. Primed everything Black to start with. I was made aware last night priming Armor and Tanks isnt like priming an automobile where lighter colors like Red or yellow get primed with White. So Im going to do some more spoon paint testing tomorrow to decide what the colors I chose to do this kit with will look like with the different colors of primer I have. I have to wet sand the Upper Hull tomorrow on the one part as the Primer got a run on the one spot. Here are some photos I took though while priming all the parts specifically to post on this SIG build portion of my build of this SIG build. Thanks Coen C for the primer info last night. Very valuable information that I jotted down and put in my rolodex of notes.

When I get this fully painted and assembled I have a feeling this is going to end up being a very fun SIG build. I kinda like this little bugger lol.

Im very confused with the box art paint scheme of this Panzer II compared to the research Ive did on this kit which is pretty exstensive. This is the history of the Panzer II information Ive found online in regards to the paint schemes and colors of the Panzer II.

Late 1939 Dark Panzer Gray

When they went to North Afrika they arrived in the original Dark Panzer Gray.

March of 1941 They changed to Yellow Brown / Sand Yellow as the base color with Gray Green for camo patterns.

March of 1942 They went to Brown/Dark Sand and Dark Panzaer Gray

August of 1942 the Tigers came and again were Dark Panzer Gray

December of 1942 the Tigers went to Dark Panzer Gray with a thin coat of Dark Olive Green sprayed over the Dark Panzer Gray.

February of 1943 The Dark Panzer Gray was replaced with the Dark yellow as a base color with a Dark Yellow Interior, with Dark Olive Green and Red Brown for the Camo Patterns. They also used Light Olive Green as a substitute to the Dark Olive Green based on availability. This Tiger paint scheme in February of 1943 is what my box art resembles the most.

I also read that this 1:35 Tamiya Panzer Kampfwagen II Ausf. F/G kit Im building cant be built to replicate a real G version of the Panzer II tank based on something about the rear suspension isnt correct on this kit to make it a true G version. Im not familiar enough with Tanks to know the difference but thats what I read haha. Either way, Im going to use these following colors for my paint scheme all of the Vallejo Model Air line.

Dark Yellow
US Sand
Brown Sand
Camo Dark Olive Green
Camo Light Olive Green

It appears to get this finished in time Im going to either have to break the Paasche H series airbrush out or hand paint it as I somehow seemed to bend the needle tip of my Patriot 105 while spraying the first coat of Dark Yellow on the wheels.

My final video for the Panzer II SIG build. I chose not to put any decals on this build as there seems to be some confusion to the actual correctness of which decals go with the paint scheme I used so I just decided to skip the decals period. I think this is a kit well the Panzer II in specific that needs a ton of research done on it as there is alot of unanswered questions that make this tank questionable as to whats right and whats wrong with it. As in the proper parts an components that make it a proper F or G version, the actual proper colors used to give it the proper paint color etc. Everywhere you read theres different answers and opinions on what it is. I would really like to research this to the point to know which is factual and which is opinion etc. I may do this over time. Very curious to this info myself so it gives me some deep research to do in the future. Still shots to follow. Thanks for viewing and allowing me to participate in this SIG build. A big thanks also goes out to Paul and Lee of Ultimate Modeling Products for donating a set of the Sanding Sponge Sticks to each participent that completes this SIG build. Im excited to receive mine and give them a try. Im always open to finding and trying a new product. Im told these are one of the best on the market so Ill be sure to give a review once I receive mine and give them a try.

Even though she doesnt know it yet lol its to me from the little one for Christmas. So Christmas Day when I receive it Ill be more then happy to do a in box review of it for ya buddy. I wasjust told we have to goto Walmart again this evening to return something so (That means I get another trip to Michaels) haha so Im scoping out some planes that Im interested in right now haha. That was the only tank they had other then some chintzy Testors kit that was half assembled already. Im not crazy on the Testors kits. Im thinking along the lines of some type of Jet. I feel like Im abusing the 40% off coupon but hey if they offer me a new coupon all the time I feel that the days, weeks and months through the year that I dont use it way over towers the days I use it. I rarely use it other then around the Holidays becasue I have the extra money to be able to buy them but I still dont like to take advantage of it. But mn when I can get a $30 kit for $15 that helps a ton for someone on a fixed monthly income like myself so I have to take advantage of it. Back to the original topic, Yes Id be more then happy to do a in box review December 25th haha.

Im disappointed with the selection of Tanks at Michaels. They only had the one that I got the other day that I noticed. I quickly skimmed over the kits though as the better half was readyto role. She hates going to the model section as it means were spending money haha. Other then the Testors ones that I had no interest in. Plane wise they had a few. I am going to start looking at hobby Lobby as they have a 40% off coupon and a little better selection I believe. Ill have to order online through HL though because the closest one to me is like a hour and a half to fourty minutes away from me. But then again if I goto te store to shop that gives me an additinal reason to stop in and see my biological daughter as she lives in Shippensburg which is a five to ten minute drive one town over (closer to me) from Chambersburg which is the closest Hobby Lobby to me :D There is another one a lil over a hour from me the opposite direction towards Pittsburgh as well in Altoona, PA.
