Roman Legionary - finished.

Post by RangerNeil »

I am calling this one done now. The fit of some parts and the finish of others left much to be desired. Where it was a simple butt joint the shaping surfaces to match was - relatively - easy. But this one had a number of joints with square plug and socket joints to align parts properly - and neither the plug nor socket were properly formed. I seriously would not recommend this one to anyone other than a figure builder with far greater skills in the art than I possess.

Anyways - here is the finished Legionary, the best I could make it!!

Great work - especially on the cloak & armour, that all looks properly used & worn!

If I was to make one suggestion it would be to maybe tone down the red you've used on the mouth - maybe mix it in with a bit of dark flesh?

    T'is a great looking figure though :cheers2:
    Cheers, Neil

Many thanks - I will give that a try on the next one. I now have the Vallejo face painting set so there are some darker shades in there to try. :) Got a Templar Sergeant in the queue for building - I'm finding these figures useful for keeping occupied when waiting for major parts of big builds.

Hey Neil, I totally understand where your coming from on these figures. While they can be a pleasant thing to occupy your time between build phases, they can also be more work than they should be. This is especially true when getting the resin figures from China. They often clone the original model figure and the quality control is a hit or miss for sure.

With that said, you battled through the issues to make a convincing figure, good job!

Looking forward to your Templar figure.
