Relatively new to the modelling scene.

Post by Stefee »

Hi all,
My name is Stefan a retiree from Hemel Hempstead UK.
Rejoined modelling in February this year after a 25 year hiatus mainly due suffering a serious eye injury which has limited vision in my left eye and ruined my depth perception, got used to it now and magnifying headband lights are a great help.
I used to own my own body and mechanical workshop in South Africa where we worked on some really exotic motors. After returning to the UK in 2000 I worked for a well known motoring organisation performing technical reports on all sorts of vehicles for prospective buyers, leasing companies and dealerships.
My modelling interests are mainly 1/24 and 1/25 scale civilian vehicles which I have owned, driven or rebuilt/worked upon for clients. There will be a smattering of science fact builds and a 1/700 Titanic build to come sometime.
Completed builds of Datsun 510 Bluebird (my first car in SA), Porsche 928 S4, Mazda MX5 (Eunos), classic Range Rover 2 door and Space Shuttle with Booster Rockets. Currently on the bench are VW T1 Camper van and Porsche 911 Turbo.
Hope to get to know some of you virtually and pick up some tips and tricks and hopefully share some with your goodselves.
Lots of topics to read and I will post some photos of my completed builds once I find the correct forum.

Regards Stefan

Welcome :welcome: Stephan always great to have someone new join in.
You can as other builders have here create a gallery thread for your own builds already completed.

Hello Stefan and :welcome: to the ISM forum.

When you get a moment please check out the forum guidelines which can be found ---> here

We'd love to see your work & progress but in order to post photos you will need to host them on an external site such as Flickr and then link to them from the forum. Unfortunately the forum currently doesn't have sufficient capacity or bandwidth to host directly uploaded photos.

There is a quick guide on how to use the Flickr integration on the forum ---> here and a couple of step by step guides in here

As well as the forum boards there is a really useful Modeller Toolkit available which can help with paint matching, paint thinning, glue types & a scale calculator that can be found ---> here

We also run a number of group builds & special interest groups through the year so feel free to enter any of those that you like the look of - once they're set up they can be found ---> here

Otherwise take a look around and join in, and if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Have fun!
Cheers, Neil
