Surpised by how beefy the front of the Skyraider is! Makes the pilot look tiny.

    Hi all,
    Been a while between updates.
Here’s where I’m at with the Skyraider.

I wanted to see how big these bombs were. Answer, absolutely massive.

Hopefully I’ll be able to crack on with the bird now.

    Cheers all.

Love this kit. Did the Navy version as the toilet bomber and have this one in the stash.

Yes, the fuel tanks are HUGE. Then add all the boom booms under the wings and you wonder how this thing flew. But it did! Looking good so far. :)

Slow going on the Skyraider. Not finding as much time at the kitchen table at the moment.

    A quick update.
Glued the canopy and made a start on all the bombs!

All the bombs will soak up a surprising amount of time, but it's all looking good. I like the Skyraiders a phenomenal aircraft.

Managed to get a bit of time at the dining table.

Its been a slow progress on the Skyraider. Combination of mojo, cricket training & Andor taking up my evenings.

But progress has been made. I’ve painted the first 2 of the three camo colours, the lighter green still needs a couple of more coats before the final tan camo.
Painting would have been easier if I didn’t make the decision to have the air brakes open. Bit of a pain tbh.

Hopefully I’ll get a few more evenings at the dining table this week to complete the painting, then I can get to decals and weathering next week.

    Cheers all.

Camo painted completed and a coat of matt clear.

Most of the decals are now on, there’s a rather tricky one still to go that runs diagonally up and over the fuselage. I’ve left it until last so if doesn’t work I won’t bother with it.
I made a mess of one of the T’s on the tail. This will be rectified with some white paint and very aggressive weathering.

    Calling the Skyraider done.

Overall quite an enjoyable model to do. No real fit issues, only a couple of fiddly bits (the air brake doors) and only lost one piece to the floor monster (tiny antenna that is supposed to protrude out from the tip of the rear tail). I was holding it very carefully in the tweezers, about to place in the hole, then, PING, gone forever.

    Thanks for looking in fellas.
    Have a great Christmas.

Making me want to break out one of my Skyraider kits. Perhaps an earlier AD6. Hmmm....
