Possible Rule 9 Contravention

Does this contravene the "Unstarted Kit" rule?

It's fine - stop prevaricating and get on and build it

100%
It's not allowed - go back to the stash and find something produced in the 21st Century

Possible Rule 9 Contravention

Post by Tomcat64 »

My plan for this GB was an ancient offering from Matchbox
Image

This was a kit my brother gave to me when I got back in to building and way before my ISM days. I've no idea where he got it from but on opening the box over the weekend it would appear that someone at some stage has attempted to give this a rudimental "priming" on one side of each frame...

I did consider maybe trying to strip it back but I have absolutely no idea what kind of paint was used so not sure how best to strip it without reducing the whole thing to slag... On the plus side it appears to have been light enough to allow what detail was included on the kit to still be visible :)

Rule 9 of GBs says:
9. All kits MUST be in unstarted condition - no exceptions (damaged while in transit sprue parts are allowed).

So... does this primitive attempt at priming prohibit the kit from the GB?
Cheers, Neil

Fine by me but as a penalty you can only use one hand, unless the other is a hook then in true nautical fashion you can use both me hearty...🤺

This is nothing more than a pathetic attempt by a sub-par modeller to take advantage of work already carried out on this beautiful kit that is far in advance of the paltry skills he has.

Rules are there for a reason, they protect us from ourselves and, moreover, they also protect us from such actions as those this so called 'Tomcat 64' seeks to inflict upon us brothers.

So I say, nay, nay and thrice nay. He must be driven from our midst while the remnant must be cleansed for his iniquities.

As punishment for the heinous breach of the rules, I sentence you to work on a Matchbox kit from the stone age...

If you strip the paint off the sprue, it would no longer be "started!"

Yep, I did consider that but since I don't know what was used to prime it I'm a little wary of trying to strip it back since it should be ok to reprime over the top I think.

We are fortunate to have a pretty tight group of modellers in here
There are no “gunners” in builds out for the prizes and self glory, we just like to show our work and help each other.
The #9 rule was set back in Paul’s days when participation was high and prizes were sought after. Made to stop someone from entering already built model or even worse someone else’s completed build. They wanted to see the history of the model being built during the time of the sig or gb.
So this was a joking/ Jesting thread just in case anyone is taking anything too seriously

Bunch of liberals. I still think capital punishment was worth considering but clearly I'm not in the majority
