One of my recently finished (ish) builds. (ish because you always feel you counld do more!) This is a 1977 Revell kit built OOB complete with raised panel lines and rivets. Hand painted with Humbrol enamels but not weathered. This is also my first attempt and photos of my modelling effort. Getting the area of focus was a bit tricky! Please go easy on me
Some comments on the kit itself; obviously given its vintage the detail has been molded on with the delicate touch of the Incredible Hulk but I can forgive that given its age. (That didn't stop the model shop charging full price though
)The fit was poor in some areas especially under the front fuselage. The kit build up for the nose/windscreen/lower glass and cabin roof was very difficult to get right. I am pretty sure that wasn't just me as the instructions include directions to putty fill the gaps where the cabin roof allegedly meets the rest of the front fuselage roof. Also from what I have read I believe that the kit is a mixture of details from several variants.
However I am pleased that the putty work went reasonably well. I used Microset/sol for the decals for the first time and despite a couple of issues that was OK. I think the overall 'look' of the thing is quite good and I quite enjoy wrestling these old kits into shape. Right to view the photos, first stick on 'Ride of the Valkyries' and then half close your eyes.
