Here we go, so I painted the cooling fan Tamiya X-10 Gun Metal.
Image
Image
I assembled the engine/fan parts, glued into place and mated the two fuselage halves together.
Image
I then sanded the joints flush.
Image
Image
The wings were then re-scribed and glued in position.
Image

SO THE FUN BEGINS HERE.
I wanted to make the plane carry a bomb or fuel tank, but to do this I had to raise the ride height of the plane.
I turned to an old Airfix 1/48 FW 190 to steal parts from.
Undercarriage first.
Image
The legs and covers are glued together first and then a small slice of plastic was removed from the leg fixing point to make it fit the egg plane.
After a lot of messing with glue and leg trying to get the right forward sweeping angle and getting them both in line (which I failed to get exact)
the glue was applied.
It took a long time to set today, I do not know if anyone else gets this from time to time?
Image
Still not enough height so I went looking around in my spares box for a tail wheel.
The 1/48 Airfix was not enough, so I carried on looking for a 1/32 tail wheel and found a Matchbox Tiger Moth wheel.
Image
Size comparison.
Image
The Egg wheel was cut off.
Image
Then the stub was sanded off, drilled out and the new tail wheel pin rounded and dry fitted into place.
Once I was happy it was glued in place.
Image
Tail planes fitted.
Image
That's all for today, I now have to find a bomb rack and fuel tank/bomb.
Thanks for dropping by. :th: :th:

Time is running out for me quickly. :jd:
So here we go.
To help increase the ride height I am using 1/48 scale wheels from my spares box, as well as a pilot.
Image
The pilot sits way too high, only one thing to do.
Image
THE SAW.
Image
I had to remove his legs from below the knee.
I also had to remove the bottom of the seat.
Image
From the spares box I found a Tamiya FW-190 ETC 501 fuselage rack for the bomb.
This needed a curve sanding out as to fit the egg.
Image
Very roughly as you can see, no problem as I will use my own filler/glue made from liquid cement and tiny squares cut from plastic card and mixed together.
Image
That's it on using my filler cement.
Now with all this extra weight I wanted to give my plane a bigger prop.
Spares box again and another Tamiya FW-190 paddle-blade prop.
Image
I brush painted the props Tamiya XF-27.
Image
So here is the bomb load out.
Egg bombs and you guessed it spares box, Tamiya SC250 kg bomb.
Image
A bit more Tamiya XF-27 Black Green.
Image
I then spray Tamiya XF-2 White on the parts where the yellow paint will go, this acts as a good base colour.
Image
Once dry I spray the Tamiya X-8 Lemon Yellow.
Image
Image
I mask the yellow areas after over 2 hours drying time and spray Vallejo Model Air Pale Blue Grey. 71.046.
Image
I then paint the pilot a mix of black and blue, brown and white colours.
I was just messing about with paint colours that I had.
I do not do the "black art of figure painting" much.
Image
Pilot in, wheels on, wash on the legs and canopy on.
Done for the day.

Love your work.
The pilot looks really cool in there, it was certainly worth the adjustments you have had to make.

Thanks, I am loving the fun element to this build, as I write this I have put on the first green and waiting for it to dry.
The next colour will go on after F1 qualifying. :th: :th:

Okay, so first I masked the canopy with Tamiya tape, remembering to use a new blade.
Image
Image
The canopy frame is sprayed with Tamiya XF-63 German Grey.
Image
I am going for a Russian-front camo so the first colour on is a Mr Hobby Aqueous Colour,
RLM-82 Light Green. I added a small amount of Tamiya thinner X-20A.
Image
Once dry I gave it 3 hours while watching F1 Qualifying.
Roll small sausages of Blu-tac and mark out the second colour pattern then cover with tape.
I always save old tape for this purpose. It saves tape and money if, like me, you model on a budget.
Image
Image
Then spray Tamiya XF-58 Olive Green.
Remove masking after about one hour.
Image
Image
Decals and bombs, then she is done.
