Aur0ra145's Bandai 1/72 Y-Wing

Post by aur0ra145 »

Heyyoo,

Well, started another build.

Got a better lighting setup for my bench to make videos. I'm playing with a new audio recording software to deal with the sound stuff. Also, I'm trying to make the videos more pointed and clear. We'll see how it goes.

So to start!

Well. I have the footage; but, it's in a huge file... which my video software might not be able to hack. Also, the better audio I recorded may not be able to match with the video with my current software. Sooooo.......It might be software purchase time. HOWEVER, I did get the part of me almost losing a part to the carpet monster which I found somewhat comical. We'll see what happens with it all.

Well, haven't gotten much work done today on the Y-wing. But I did purchase some new video editing software. It's called Magix and seems to work alright. I'm still working with the sound to get it better. I used a separate audio recording program for this one and discarded the audio track from the raw video.

Man it looks like you're working your way through my stash :D

Nice work on the video too :th:

Sound is much better and two and a half minutes or so is much more digestable

Thanks for watching! I'll have more updates to come. I got a little side tracked on a different project. However, this weekend should see me wrapping up this one.

Howdy all!

VIDEO UPDATE WILL GO HERE> (It's still uploading.) Cover pre-paint and how I planned on assembly.

-----

Primed overall in Ultimate Black, then used various colors.

Vallejo Air 71.119 White Gray
Vallejo Air 71.001 White
Vallejo Metal Air Steel
MM Flat Gull Gray FS36440 4763
MM Aircraft Gray 4693
MM Leather 4674
Various tamiya XF ranges for small touches

Here's the paint scheme I used going into it. I had been planning on a VFA-106 paint scheme as I think the Gladiator logo would work well. But, the decals were too big for any part of the Y-wing and it not look strange. So I just went with the Blue/White/Gray scheme

The cockpit ended up looking pretty good if I do say so myself. I really like how it came out.

Then the final assembly!

Overall I really enjoyed this kit. Goes together pretty well and looks good on the shelf! I really liked the attention to detail they had to the original. You can see in the molding where the original Y-wing creators kit bashed to get the greebles and stuff. You can clearly see a could of tank jacks on the body and other types of recognizable piece from older kits.

Thanks for following along!
