Revell 747-400 "Ed Force One"

Post by bfrd »

It is not quite finished yet and has plenty of flaws, but I am having fun doing building it. Although the casual observer might think I am being tortured due to the language I use whilst building... :)

This has not been an "easy" kit to assemble. It could be due to my lack of experience, but I have read other accounts of this particular kit being a pig. Not a nice pig like "Babe" more like that piece of crap boar that killed Robert Baratheon. I am still learning my airbrush (Paasche Talon) and my patience is that of a 4 year old on speed. I see progress on both fronts, I expect to have the patience of a 4 year old off of speed in the coming months.

I do see the importance of learning from my mistakes, so I will try and list them as I go.

Things I wish I knew the day before I did them...
  • Don't use 3M painters tape for masking
  • After learning to not use 3M painters tape, do not use newspaper when masking a white plane

Looking fabulous, comes alive with the decals
Had this kit in my hands at the LHS the other day, but wasn't shopping for me so didn't pull the trigger

I just finished a 2nd prototype of a custom stand for Ed Force One.

Here is a shot of the 1st prototype being cut. I tore part of the backing paper off to get an accurate read on the thickness.

It wasn't accurate enough hence the need for a second prototype.
