Homemade Winter Wash?

Post by chops1sc »

I am looking for help in making a homemade winter wash for a crappy build I am trying to finish up. I am hoping the "snow" will help hide some imperfections, LOL! I am thinking along the lines of chalk, baby powder, baking soda? Would these be able to be turned into a wash?
Any help is appreciated!

Other than basic oil paint-based mixes, I've never given any thought to making my own washes. There are so many effective solutions on the market (insert obligatory Ultimate Modelling Products plug here), I've never seen the need. If you hit upon a home brew that works, I hope you'll share it. :thumb1:

I wish Ultimate was offered on Amazon. There's only one site that I'm aware of in the US that sells their stuff. I'll most likely get some Vallejo white wash. I was just wondering if someone had already found a good homemade solution. I thought about making one with oil paint but I haven't had any luck making dark washes work so I'll skip that.
