International Scale Modeller Forum Guidelines...

Post by Lee »

Introduction to the Forums

The goal of International Scale Modeller Forums (ISM) is to create, promote and progress an International community based around modelling for modellers everywhere. It is an independent and open forum for discussing all aspects of modelling. It is a friendly social network for modelling enthusiasts around the world.

The forum guidelines for posting are important and should be read and accepted before you choose to participate. International Scale Modeller and the global modelling community encourage contributors who are courteous, polite and respectful. We discourage those who choose to behave in a disrespectful and/or irresponsible manner. International Scale Modeller, its administration team and volunteer moderators will take appropriate steps to ensure discussions adhere to these guidelines.

If you have any questions regarding the appropriateness of a forum discussion post that you have read, you can use the 'report' icon found at the bottom of that post. This alerts a ISM Forum Moderator to look into that topic. You may also contact the author of the post, citing the appropriate section of the forum guidelines. Be respectful, as all contact with other users through International Scale Modeller forums is subject to the Terms of Use.

Forum moderators are generous volunteers that give up their time to help build a better community. Occasionally, our forum moderators will use their discretion to determine the best course of action. International Scale Modeller has entrusted these volunteers to do what is best for the global community. Volunteers assist with focusing topics of discussion and will gently enforce guidelines, as needed. They can edit/delete posts, move, close or delete topics, and temporarily moderate users' posts.

Discussion forums are moderated to preserve the spirit of an open, interactive discussion without offending participants. Please understand that we are not attempting to censor any messages or opinions.

Forum Guidelines

1. There is no minimum or maximum age to post in the International Scale Modeller discussion forums. All members must be aware that we do have younger members and your actions reflect on them too.

2. Forum courtesy: Please treat International Scale Modeller, its administrators, volunteers, fellow community members, and guests in these forums with courtesy and respect. Whether a community member has one post or 5,000 posts, everyone should be treated respectfully.

3. Foul language and obscene images will not be tolerated. This site is family-friendly. All forum posts must conform to a family-friendly standard and contributors must act accordingly. It is not appropriate to replace characters in a profane word to elude the built-in censoring filter, or forum moderation and will automatically incur a warning.

4. Personal attacks and inflammatory or antagonistic behavior will not be tolerated. No unwanted criticism at all, unless its asked for by the Original poster, if asked for please do so constructively. Generalised, vicious or veiled attacks on a person or idea will not be tolerated and will automatically incur a warning.

5. Sock puppet accounts are not permitted. A sock-puppet account is created and used by a person who already has a primary account, for the purpose of posting anonymously. Posts from known sock puppet accounts may be deleted, and both the sock-puppet and primary accounts may be suspended from the International Scale Modeller forum's site. Please use your real, primary account for posting in the International Scale Modeller forums.

6. Keep on topic: Responses to a particular thread should stay on-topic and pertain to the discussion. Users should use the New Topic button to start a new discussion which would otherwise be off-topic in the current thread. Threads that veer off topic may be redirected, closed or moderated by a moderator. Deliberate disruption or derailing of topics is not appropriate. However, our moderators allow for natural progressions of topics.

7. Private discussions: Sometimes, a discussion thread strays off into a friendly dialogue or a heated debate among a very small number of users. For these exchanges, we ask that you please use the Private Message feature that is provided through the International Scale Modeller forums. Public forum posts should be reserved for matters of interest to the general modelling community. Reminder: All contact with other community members through International Scale Modeller site is subject to the Terms of Use.

8. Spam: Posting the same message, or an unsolicited commercial message, to one or many topics or boards is considered spamming and may result in a restriction on future forum posting privileges and will automatically incur a warning. Duplicate messages may be deleted or consolidated by our moderators. Please do your best to post new topics to the appropriate forum board. Moderators can take action when a thread should be moved to a more appropriate section.

9. Commerciality and postings with a larger agenda: It is International Scale Modeller's desire to maintain forums for the purpose of promoting the activity of modelling and all it's aspects. We intend to limit forum discussions that promote overly commercial, social, political or charitable agendas as well as those which do not reasonably relate to the activity of modelling.

Threads or posts perceived to have been made with the intent of promoting any of the above agendas will not be permitted. Please note that our Volunteer Forum Moderators are authorized to exercise their discretion in providing some reasonable latitude for forum discussion postings relating to local events and issues in local discussion forums and can issue warnings to repeat offenders. Notwithstanding the above, International Scale Modeller reserves the right to include or permit the inclusion of limited commercial content in this forum, at its sole discretion.

10. We generally do not allow surveys to be conducted in the International Scale Modeller forums.

11. Personal classified advertising is not permitted in the International Scale Modeller forums. This is due to too many scammers and problematic deals going awry in the pas. We suggest you use a very popular online auction site for all your private buying and selling.

12. Any messages you post in these discussion forums will remain available to the public for as long as this discussion forum is online; please post carefully and with due consideration to the content of your post. An exception is if the post does not meet forum guidelines and is moderated. Moderated posts may be removed or edited by moderators of International Scale Modeller. In the unlikely event that we do edit your post and you do not like the changes, we can delete the message at your request. We will not delete accounts from members no longer wishing to post here as this will ruin the flow of the threads that you've participated in.

13. If someone has posted copyrighted material or otherwise illegal material, please notify International Scale Modeller so that we may take appropriate action, or report the content using the 'report' icon at the bottom of the post.

14. Abuse of this forum will not be tolerated.

15. Warning System - There is currently a warning system in place for infraction of the rules and guidelines or for continuously causing problems/baiting/trolling on the forum or any of ISM's channels with other members, the moderating team or with the admin themselves . A three strikes and out rule is applied to the warning system. This means once you're given three warnings, the next infraction of the rules or guidelines will incur a permanent and total ban with no possibility what so ever of a return to ISM. This will include all of ISM's channel, which includes FaceBook, YouTube and these forums in their entirety.

16. Member's signatures - Member's signatures must only contain text or a very small banner or similar picture no larger tan 450 x 50 pixels. Any signatures containing video clips, GIFs or large pictures will not be allowed. If you have one of these please remove it immediately or when one of the moderating team contacts you and asks you to do so. The reason for this is that it consumes a lot of our server's resources, slows the site/threads down and in general, ruins the flow of threads. Repeated offending will incur a warning.
