My first review of a kit on the forum and I have chosen one that has just been released and that many people have been asking about. The Ford F-100 has been an iconic truck ever since it was first released in the 1950's. This versions, a 1970 model, is a new tool that was released in May of 2016.The box art is outstanding and the box itself is jammed full of sprues.

I'm starting the review with the chrome parts. They are very shiny and not as thickly layered as the chrome on some other companies models kits. It still may be a bit to shiny for my taste but i don't yet know if i'll strip it back or not.

The front end is especially nice with the grill being completely hollowed out, something i've not seen in a 1/25 scale car kit before.

The tires have no center seam and a very realistic tread pattern, unfortunately there is no manufacture sidewall writing or white stripes though the decals do provide the white sidewalls.

The cab is a nicely molded one piece affair with nice , crisp molding around the entire body. Unfortunately the inside roof has 6 large EPM that will need to be removed. When i first opened the plastic bag I had hoped for a headliner in the kit which would cover these but there is not one so sanding the marks will be vital.

The next bag contains the sprues for the bed, interior tub, hood, bench seat and door panels. Again the detail is very nice throughout and the texture on the floorboard is scale realistic and will make a good representation of the rubber coated floor these trucks normally had. Detail in the hood is good but again it is filled with EPM's which will need filled or sanded, not nice. The lettering on the front of the hood looks authentic. The bench seat and side panels will look good when finished in a two tone color that matches the paint you chose to use for the body. The bed's fenders match up nicely with the detail from the cab.

The next bag contained sprues for the suspension, dashboard and other parts for detailing. The dashboard is particularly nice and will look great when detailed.

The next bag contained the major engine components , frame suspension and drive shaft. The engine block and valve cover are exceptionally detailed. As is the tailgate with the required Ford lettering. The rims have some flash, which is surprising considering it is a new tool but otherwise look well detailed.

Clear red parts are included for the taillights and the clear parts for the windows is almost as clear and blemish free as the real glass would have been.

The instructions are clean and concise and the paint callouts on the last page are authentic to Ford's factory colors. The decals are cut very close with little carrier film overhanging.

So, is this a good kit for the price of $28.95 more or less. Well if you are looking for something with alot of detail that will build up nice this is probably it. I haven't built it yet obviously so my real impression will have to wait until during the build phase later this summer. I like the detail, especially of the engine, frame and tires. My only major concern would be the huge EPM's inside the roof and inside the hood, if you wish to display or enter it in a contest where realism is a factor then those will have to be meticulously be taken care of which won't be easy, especially in the hood where there is alot of detail that will be affected. Would I recommend it, yes. The overall tooling is new & better than many kits out today which are still the old 60's and 70's moldings, sometimes even older. The price is only a couple of dollars higher than kits which aren't nearly as nice and once painted in the two toned scheme it will look perfect next to a factory fresh 1970 Ford Mustang.

A great looking kit! Thanks for the detailed shots. I may be getting one of these, and now I know what I am looking at even before I buy it.
