1/48 Mirage III E SQdn EC 1/4 'La Fayette' Armée de l'Air , BA116 Luxeuill 1967 (Kinetic) - Final Reveal

Post by rodrant »

Well , we come till here with this build ...

What can I say about the kit ...High expectations ...but very disappointed with it, for more than 40 € , if you have the money , go buy yourself a nice 1/48 from Eduard , you will have more pleasure in the build for sure , I do not want to point that all is bad ...the fit is really bad in some part, wings , air intakes ...instructions absolutely awfull, no paint guide trough the build ...and then a problem from me , no references on some details ...The last part of the build again another nightmare to fit the rear tail light ...the clear part has nothing to do with the instructions , and you even do not know if you are seeing the same part ...oh well ...

I didn't bother in doing the weathering ...did some experiences , but this all metal for me still are hard to do this step of the builds , and some more issues with my usual clear paints ...thought that I have alclad clear , but waht I have was this Alclad Clear that it is like milk , I even will try to use in some next build the Tamiya clear as I already saw some guys experiment it ...the AK colors superb !!! You do not have to thin them ...still I discover something after I use them , the Chrome and the Polished aluminium ( I think ) , they really should be used on a Shinny Black base ...well I use Primer for all and I really believe that they behave better with Primer , my humble opinion as I'm not at all an expert !

Well I present you the final reveal photos , with no more delay , the base wasmade by me , and I prefer to present this plane , and due for having this great aerodinamics in flight mode ...even no pilot , but I like more to see it like this ...will make another mirage in future , maybe an IDF one form 6 Days war ...for now , my photos :

Sounds like you've had a bit of an adventure with the kit mate.

Cool results though. I love the variations you achieved in the metal colours.

Dear Antônio:
I don't think it was that bad.
If you say it was na experience for various metal paints, it was na awesome job. I liked vmuch the diferent metal colours. Definetly will do it on my Israeli Mirage III.
The kit has issues (loooots of them) but I think you faced it very nice and the final result was pretty much acceptable.

Congrats, meu amigo!
Cheers
André

Thank you ...well that Blue color is also from AK Metallic Blue ...I diluted and try to do the heat effect in the exhaust :-) , not perfect but with practice could be a nice effect to do in exhausts like the effect as very diluted becomes almost trans lucid .

Thank you , well the only thing that I can say is that this had a lot of issues in fitting , yours could be different , but carefull in the wings and the cockpit , do not know the 2000C kit , but I guess the way to fit the Delta Wings and the air intakes should be similar ... and study the build carefull ! Found the instructions very bad indeed !

Thank you Will .The best that I took from this build was really using these paintsinetic kit again :-), they are really great, if you get almost all aluminium variations you can be fun doing all the panels variations using the different metal colors , even they behave very well to the use and reuse of masking tape , dry very fast , carefull with the fingers, maybe some gloves is a usefull stuff to have when handling this type of metal builds

I've always liked the lines of a Mirage, and I think you've done a proper job on this one. I can only hope my first dance with metal paints goes as well as yours. Good work, sir!
