Finally got around to sorting out a kit for this build and decided upon.... trumpeters hetzer starr, i plumped for this over the academy version simply because of the tracks, not tried the modelkasten style yet and thought an abject failure in public view might be amusing, whats the worst that can happen?

Once i clear the jackson and/or defiant off the bench i will be making a start and im not too far off finishing either. Must be some kind of masochist as im looking forward to attempting those tracks.

So the obligatory instructions and sprue shots, looks to be a nice kit, very little flash apparent and the seam lines appear minimal as do the decals and p.e.

All going together easily so far, excellent parts fit. Lower hull, engine and engine bay as well as rear plate put together. There have been a few incorrect parts callouts in the instructions which i have made notes of on said instructions and will post pics of these later as well as pics of the painted engine bay.

Just a quick update, engine bay painted and installed along with some trackular progress, squint real hard and you might be able to see the track pins!

Really shows how shortsighted i am mike, no magnifiers involved, just peered over my specs lol! Almost finished the tracks off this morning so hopefully will be able to get on to the upper hull tonight, either that or removing half the rivets from the road wheels, 108 in total could be fun.

Construction all finished, nothing to report other than the aforenoted slight issues 3s with the instructions and obviously the fiddly nature of the tracks everything fit together pretty much perfectly, almost tamiyaesque in the parts fit. Painting started with a grey primer followed with a 60/40 mix of hull red and red to approximate a red oxide primer, next up was a layer of hairspray (firm hold if it makes any difference) then the usual suspects of dunkelgelb, rotbraun und dunkelgrun.
Will have a shufty to see if any touch ups are required once everything is dry. Also got the wheels and tracks painted, as an aside herman is not happy, mumbling something about watching where i point mein vindybrush dumkopf, he must be getting old as he is going grey!

Some rust pigments and streaks added along with some rain streaks before the obligatory coat of Ultimate dark dirt, just need to mud up the lower hull and running gear now.

She is starting to get a dirty bottom! Add some more pigmenty goodness this evening and it will be done. Would have finished sooner but the damn eduard/zvezda la5 is kicking my butt all over the place.
