AFV Club 1/35 M18 Hellcat

Post by mperegrinefalcon »

This is my first armour build. Ive built a couple aircraft but I want to dable a bit in armour.

Good kit so far. There are some tight fitting parts that I had to sand down to be able to fit, but its building up nicely.

The transmission had a seam which needed to be filled.

The instructions were not very clear with where I needed to drill some holes, so i had to fill the miss-drilled ones.

Technique I thought of to find where I need to drill was to drill one hole where I wanted the first locating lug to go, and put a little bit of paint on the other locating lug, then put that on the model. That marks where the second locating lug is, so you can drill there. I dont have a pin vise or drill bit set, so I just use a hobby knife and twist it like a reeming tool. I cant control the thickness of the hole I drill, so its not ideal, but it works for now.

Why finish a kit when you can start a new one?

You know I do not have the skill set, well maybe I should say eye sight, to do a model kit like this - all that interior painting would keep me awake at nights. Am curious to see how this turns out.

sorry for taking so long to reply. The interior detail is mostly hidden from veiw, and anyways its all just white. I dont know how good ur vision is, but just go for it mate, no-ones judging. You miss 100% of the shots you dont take right? This is my first armour model, so dont expect much. I just finished decaling, and im waiting for them to dry to flat coat it and weather it. :cheers2:
