Kiwigavs Bandai Snowspeeder

Post by kiwigav »

Hi guys this is my third build on the go... for SIG

Always liked the speeder and Bandai have put some nice detail into this one. I am keen on tracking down a Fine Molds one to compare.
Bandai kits that I have purchased have fantastic detail and the crispness is most welcomed. I personally feel I am missing some of the complexty of the build with thier kits. The fact that they can virtually clip together hasn't completly grown on me yet...just call me old fashioned!

Will build this as per box art, but may paint some of the markings rather than using supplied decals.

The detail BanDai is adding to these new Star Wars kits blow all my old AMT kits right out of space! Now I want to step on my old Speeder and buy one of these! Damn.
Good luck!

Since Chief is already done with his (!) I though you might like to see these shots I took many years ago at Disney World. They had real props on display at the Star Wars ride. It is nowhere near as impressive as the model kit though!

I totally agree, Ban Dai is making a fine run at this new Star Wars series of kits. The X wing I did went together perfectly, everything just fit. I did not use ANY cement and all the parts stay put with friction fit or snaps. The detail level is on par with Fine Molds IMHO

Keep flying at it Gav :thumb2:

Update

Got the interior started. First was the seats and here I decided to paint medium grey with a coat of Tamiya smoke clear over top. I am quiet pleased with the effect it gave.

cockpit done and decided to not use decals as they look too fake.

Another Update

Got all the assembly done and primed in black. I plan to paint the darker panels rather than use the decals.

ImageImageImageImageImage

All primed, after checking the masking I re-done the windows as my 1st attempt left a few gaps
ImageImage

here you can see the supplied decals to colour the dark panels

Hey Gav, notice you primed it in black...any reason???
Been trying to figure out what color to prime things.....my pattern was bright colors got white primer and dark got grey primer
I see lots of armour and fantasy figure guys prime black though no matter whatbthentop coat will be
Just wondering :scratch::

Hi Scott
I use the black as a pre shade. As I put down the base color. I build it up more in some areas creating and nice tonal shading effect.

And another update

Have painted the speeder and also painted the dark grey panels, rather than use the decals. Have started putting the decals on.
Next a Ultimate wash to punch out the panel lines then thinking about getting some Ultimate winter wash to try.

She looks a beauty, always loved the speeder. I still think the Hoth assault is the best land battle in the entire saga.

Mine's in the post, somewhere between Japan and my front door
Its been tried and tested, it works! So don't blame the system if you're no good.
