Italeri M4-A1 Sherman 1/35

Post by Hank »

I don't know how badly hit by snow other parts of the UK have been but for me, it was enough to close down my workplace. In honour of whichever winter gods have brought about this weather and thus, prevented me from having to go into work today, I have been inspired to complete an appropriate scene.

The Sherman was one of the first kits I did so recently the faults and mistakes I made had started to really stand out to me. Actually, there was something about the finished product I was never really pleased with. I think, however, that the addition of the base, groundwork and the figure have given it a new lease of life and so I'm pleased enough to want to share it here. 8-)

At the time, the kit was built, painted and weathered with a lot of techniques that were new to me. A lot of experimentation was accomplished on this model. Some techniques have gone on to be used again and others have been discarded. Once again, it's served as an invaluable testbed for firsts as today is the first time I've done mud and snow. It's also the first time I've painted a figure.

Oh well, that's enough blathering. On to the pictures. :D

That's really fine work Hank, representative of your day too coincidentally haha. Here is would have to snow to over 2 feet of snow in a day to close work places. That's only happened maybe 3 times in my lifetime haha. They make us work rain or shine. haha.

That winter camo and that mud look really good. Well done. :) :th: :th: :th:

Thanks guys.

And yeah, it really doesn't take much snow to grind this place to a halt haha. It's all hills around here so if even just a few inches of snowfall catches the gritters by surprise, it's game over.
