You can not imagine how much I am jealous of your workbenches, guys :jd:
I live with my parents and I have no space so I am forced to model on a folding table

Update on the work area, was more work than expected... But it's coming together

We've put in isolation and covered everything up, put some paint on it and voila this is the result :)

Still need to put in a table to work on and some shelves etc.

Really looking forward to getting this project finished and start building my first models in the mancave ;)

Awesome Model shed Bob!!! I have noticed a lot of you guys on the other side of the pond turn garden sheds into modeling areas. Do any of you experience problems with heating/cooling throughout the year? I know how much winter/summer months affect the paints I use. Anyways, great spaces! Can't wait to see more photos!!!

I've put some nice isolation on all the walls and the ceiling and some wooden plates (18mm thickness) so that should do something. And I'm also gonna buy a little heater for the winter months (but waiting for one to buy in discount) and the place is not that big so that should suffice. Only thing I still have to do is put some silicones on the outside to make sure there is no rainwater seeping in. And then I can start putting in the stuff. Was a good project :D

Thanks for the info Bob, I know a few other folks on here have a similar set-up you do and I always wondered about that. I am sure it will make a beautiful space and that the models coming out of it will be amazing! Best of luck on the project. Can't wait to see the progress! :th:

So my area is different. It's not terribly impressive, but it's rather odd. We live in a pretty small 2 bedroom apartment, and my modeling area is a large corner of our living room. My girlfriend (Merissa) actually asked that I move things out there because in our last and larger place I never came out of the model room. So these three pictures are of the same room. There is my area, which is the main home of tools and such, then across the living room in this little dining nook surrounded by fish tanks is Merissa's current make shift modeling area. Then in between us, at a tiny table in front of the T.V. is my son's modeling area. So a lot this summer this was our apartment. 3 people modeling together in the same room. The fact my family modeled with me seemed to confuse the guys at the armor builders club.

My bench

Merissa' area. That's the early stages of her Academy Pavehawk, and her stash in the upper left hand corner.

My son Tanis' area. That's his stash in the tub.

The volcano was my contribution to the tanks. It's a small place, but very model friendly.

That's a pretty awesome spray bay there Paul! Have the same extractor you do but not nearly the same desk space to do something like that. Might try something similar one day.

I think we are all jealous of those great extractors/booths. They cost so much more when they have to cross any form of water :-(

But the 1 thing I pickup from this thread is that no matter how big or small the space us modellers are experts in making the most of available space and jamming in as much stuff as possible into any space we have. Good work guys :-)

Yup I used mdf to close up the shed and I hade some leftover pieces :D (it's the 18mm kind)
MDF works pretty good, no splinters etc. Definitely post your result :thumb2:

Well decided since I was spending the money anyway I would use my overdraft and build my paint rack this weekend. Not that I have much paint to go on it but its all ready when I do. Still deciding if I will just have a tablet, a chrome-box or a full PC set up there.

My modelling space has shape shifted during this year. From a mess on the dining table:

Image

I had to move into a new space:

The result of this move was this:

A great result in my opinion. Here is what it looks like now after some modification:

Image

Built myself a tiny paint rack

Here is the ever growing stash

Heres the modest display shelf behind my space:

Its not big and its not luxurious but its cosy and most of all, its mine :cheers2: cheers

Here are some pics:

The before:

The beginning of my stash (left) and my work in progress (right):

Took a lot more work than I expected  but overall I'm pretty happy with the result. I made the paint rack and the table myself out of a MDF plate so that worked out ok. The isolation and electricity I've done myself. The only bad thing.... I don't have internet :( the wifi doesn't reach that far.... Bummer!!! The next thing I'm planning on doing is building a paint booth since I'm getting my airbrush this sunday (I hope I'll receive my Ultimate product tomorrow :P )

Grtz,
Bob
