I have a silly question but did you take the tracks off to paint, or were they on when you painted them?

They were on. It's tougher that way but I didn't bother taking than off again after assembly and glued them straight in to place. :th:

Update

Post by hansolo »

Hi guys,

Tiny update here.

I decided that the building could use a nice wall mounted lamp.
So I built one. I started of by making the construction layout in Adobe Illustrator.

On the right you see the layout for the glass (transparent plastic) part.
On the left the metal part of the construction to be made out of heavy paper.

Image

I cut the glass part out of a piece of packaging material.

Image

Image

The layout for the metal parts I printed on heavy paper for cutout.

Image

The lamp is made of a leftover clear part.
Here’s the lamp partly assembled.

Image

Here’s the lamp completely assembled and painted black, with the exception of the wall mount part.

Image

I decided to 3D-print the wall mount.

Image

Image

Image

Here’s the completed lamp with wall mount and attached to the wall of my dio building.

Image

Image

I also included a figure to the dio.
It’s a Russian soldier that has climbed the Hetzer to take the machine gun and use it against their former owners.

Painted and weathered.

That’s all for now, folks.
Next up: Rubble time!

Cheers.

well I stopped by build because I had accidentally glued my wheels and tracks on - and just figured there is no way I could paint it - then you come along and show that it can be done. Now I should dig this off the shelf and maybe get re-started.

This guy here

build the kit and then paints. Not something I've seen before but they seem to turn out very well.

Last update

Post by hansolo »

Hi guys,

Just one little last update left.

Did a poster and some writing on the wall.

The poster is printed out on paper with a color laserwriter.

Image

The writing on the wall is a slogan often used in the last weeks of the war.
"Berlin bleibt deutsch."
I made my own decal of this slogan.

Taken from this old picture.

Image

I I extracted the type from the picture in photoshop and gave it a different layout.

Image

Printed a couple of different sizes on decal paper.

Image

Cut it to size around the type.

Image

And finally attached it to the wall and made it follow the contours with some Micro sol.

Image

That's it. SiG entry finished!
