Hello ladies and gentleman!
It's been a while, but here's another small update. :thumb1:

I had to wait a few weeks for the burnishing fluid to arrive, but finally it's here and I can finish the tracks.
I've got white metal track from Friul for this build, witch in my opinion, are the best to get.

Now. This is going to sound a bit like my dog eat my homework, but really, my puppy dog from 12 weeks old stole my memory card with the pics of the construction of the tracks... :shifty: She literally chew that card up, so I will make a jump ahead, and start with the burnishing of the tracks.
I construct the tracks in 3 pieces, this to fit the plastic box that will hold the burnishing fluid an water mixture.
With a toothbrush I rub in the fluid real good.

Image

Paul did a excellent tutorial video of this technique, to be found here: http://www.intscalemodeller.com/viewtop ... 193&t=4227 :thumb2:

And this is my result:

Image

All blackened. Still need to give it a track wash, but that will be done last.

With the tracks on and the front and rear fenders glued on, this build is finished.

Image

Image

Image

Still need to give it a track wash I think.

And after putting the model outside in the morning sun for a second, you will get this beauty...

All that remains now, is painting the figures that will ride this beast.
Thank you for tuning in again, I'm of to buy a new memory card for my camera.
I hope they'll have Jack Russell Terror proof cards...lol

Have to say that I'm not an armour builder (although I can appreciate the subject) but your techniques and skills have turned out a work of art.
That tank looks outrageously realistic.
It's been great to read your thread Frans.
Stunning work. Needs to be in a book.

:cheers2:

That is ridiculously, fricking insane?!! :jd:

As Willem states....it's so realistic, it should be in a book.

Awesome work, Frans :) :bow::

I fell down a bit there. :jd: :eeek:
Holy crow Frans!
That's some fine work my friend. The tracks are really working on that I think. I've always loved the look of the churchills and you've certainly gone a long way to inspiring another build for me. I may have ordered another AFV club churchy... and it's your fault.
What a beautiful piece bud.

Was a bit worried..lol

Thanks mate, glad you like it.

As this is going to be another competition model for the scale model challenge in October, all comments are meaning a lot to me. The tracks did not received there track wash yet, I'm not sure if they need one. They are blackened really nice, so maybe I leave it as they are now.

So I inspired the great and mighty Coen eh?
I'm not responsible for any empty pockets and wallets though!
Those AFV Churchy's are awesome, I will build more of them in the future...

Happy modelling! :thumb1: :cheers2:

The only thing that remains now iis painting the figures, but it's 35 celcius where I live so not ideal to paint right now.

Just a extra small update,
Faces are painted of the two tank commanders.
This wasn't an easy job as the paint was drying very fast for the weather here is really hot.
I paint in very tin layers, so I needed to be quick to prevent lumps in the paint an on the faces.

When these two figures are painted, I will make a start on the 3 tank riders.

In my previous update you could see that the faces of the two tank commanders were painted, So here are the pictures of the finished figures. The driver was painted all ready before I even weathered the tank, so he's to be found in the tank.

The uniforms are painted with Vallejo English uniform as a base colour.
The shades are painted with this base colour, added a drop of black in it.
The highlights are painted with the base colour, made lighter with sunny skintone.
I did not dry brushed the highlights, but painted it with a hairy stick. In my experience you'll always dry brush more then needed. I do....

The figures hairs are painted burned umber, and received a black wash. After drying I gave it a quick dry brush with light brown.

And here is the result of these two commanders :thumb1:

Like the figures Frans ! I saw the picture from your thread , my tankers use exactly the same holster for the revolver as the one on the left of the picture

still the Tamiya tankers doesn't really seem with the proper outfit ...at least the color they indicate ...If I saw this I would paint them with caqui color , not green ...

Now need to see yur build done , it is going nicely ... :th:

Today is the day of the final update on this epic build.
I have enjoyed this build, and I loved this AFV club kit. No fitting problems, great detailing and a blast to build it.

So the last thing I have done on this build is add some dust on the tracks, and finished painting the figures.

I wanted the Churchill to crush a tree or something, to show of the workable suspension, but sometimes you have to make a decision that enough is enough. The display it's standing on is a tight fit, and as for now it looks like the Churchill is making her own new road. If I would add a tree or something else she would bashing over, it would be to crowded on the base and distract from the model.
Therefore I have decided to let it for what it is now, and call her finished.

The last photo's in this update are from the finished tank riders, and later today I will go over to the reveal section!

As always I will make a reveal slide show and post it on my YouTube channel. :pop:

I would like to thank everyone who would take the time to check out this thread and comment on it. :D

Thanks guys and I hope to see you in the reveal section later this day.
