lol Scott, not a bad idea I might set up a dio with some guy strapped in a chair! I spent a couple of hours at my new workbench last night and it was heaven!
I did have two very small "spice racks" set up before, which I emptied onto the desk I was so keen to get the shelf up (managed to deglue my cockpit IP on the F/A 18 I'm building in the process!), so it wasn't this messy ever, but thought it was a good opportunity to see how a decent shelf can clean things up. Scored 4 melamine shelves 1200x200x15 (for nothing!!) and cut and shut. Shelf is 100mm deep. Drop saw and bench saw was used, the drop saw handled the shelf rebates easy. bit of thin mdf for the back. Bob's your uncle. Thanks for the comments.

I currently live in a 3 bed house so the spare (box) room is my own private little oasis!

I see you have Antony Beevor's Berlin and Stalingrad, I've just been reading his book "D-Day" and I love it! It's a great little collection of stories and such, I haven't read any of his others but I'll have to give them a look because according to the reviews on the first few pages, they are "on par with his masterpieces such as Stalingrad". Just a quick recommendation from me

Here's one part of my work area with a couple of my other hobbies present:



I now have a workbench set up at right angles to the right side of the desk. It's made up of a hollow-core door (30" x 78" or 76.2cm x 198.12cm) sitting on two sawhorses and it topped with acoustic ceiling panels used for pinning parts when I'm building RC planes. There is also a set of rolling storage drawers to my left that I use for tools and supplies. My paints are sorted in old plastic cigar boxes stored in the large bottom drawer on the right of the desk. I've been designing a dedicated modeling bench for when I construct my man cave. It will have paint racks, multiple storage nooks, electrical outlets, a dedicated space for my compressor, paint booth, adequate lighting, and drawers for storing tools and brushes. There will be separate benches for RC planes and general hobby use.

Now if I just had a place to build that man cave....

My workspace is my 2 car garage that I share with the wifes Mini van. The freezer, Water softener, a shelf with cleaning supplies and the garbage cans. ( Wait I will have to check the Condo agreement) Maybe the wife has a reason that the cans are in the garage? hehehehehe
Right now my workbench is stacked with boxes almost to the ceiling,Not all are my modeling though. Some of the boxes are my wife's cook books. Some are my sons with his stuff, and then the rest are mine with Model trains, Cars, Armor, and the rest are 1/6th scale Action Figures. I hope that in the spring that I can get out there and go thru the boxes and put the stuff away in the drawers. Get rid of the empty Boxes from the move to the new Condo. Then I can get down to building again. After a few months off from letting the plastic sprues flying thru the air, I am kind of getting buggy from not building. Hummmmmm, I wonder if I can last until warm weather hits in the spring? I might just have to set up a temporary spot in the three season room so I can smell the fumes. Well maybe I can make it, maybe I should start building over at the sister-in-laws since she put a stink up about making the three season room into a Hobby room when we were moving in. Hey wait this is my house, She don't live here! What is she trying to say?????? I will just start building in that room.... That's just the way I am, I got to stir the pot just a little more....... At our old house, I almost had a run if the basement. Well I had a big room for the train layout, then just out of that room I had a room where I built my models. That was a great set up. But I will have another great setup soon. I will just have to have to wait just a little time longer. Then the sprues will be a flying........... Kevin

I had to pan back for the last shot to fit everything in. The first two shots were just a desk. I think I need more yet, there's a little bit of space to my right to fill yet. lol

I had absolutely no room to bring it! Shipping wasn't an option because of weight and fragility. Just about managed my old cheapo Chinese one! Getting another very soon as that one is pants...
