Good luck, buddy.

Right so now its all dry I applied Mig dark wash.
I I decided to try something out dont know if I saw this somewhere or just my idea.
I doused the whole model with thinners working top to bottom to try and achieve a more natural weathered look.

Will need to wait for it to evaporate and see how it comes out.
If anyone knows where I got this idea from let me know.

So whilst I'm waiting for the thinners to dry.
I have been working on the tracks.
From a black primer I used Vallejo track primer as the base colour and have given it a wash with ulitmate Rust wash.
Now once this is dry Ill add the metal effect with a pencil and fit to the Panzer.

Yeah abit annoying but nevermind
So the rust wash has dried and again looks really light. not sure if that is just to light for my preferences,
Has anyone else used any of these yet? I'm interested what others have experienced.
I like it and think it would work great for light dusty scenes as they have a nice pastel shade.

Hey guppy get a cotton bud in there and remove the wash from the centres of the tracks, the way the wash is made to work it looks better when used like that.

Cheers buddy. I think it will add a nice contrast to the end result as the camo is very rust coloured. Thanks for the heads up.

Gups - I have a feeling you're not using the wash as it's meant to be used mate.
It's one of those that you put on allow to dry then pull off again with a moistened tissue of cotton bud. You don't just leave it how it drys mate. It's mainly used for recessed panel lines and adding depth to corners and recessed detail.
For an AFV I would recommend spraying it on then pulling it with said cloth.
I would say get your practice tank and give it a go a few different ways.
I think either Paul or myself will do a how to vid very soon for it

Nice work Gups - great build and love the camo scheme!
Once you've worked a bit of your magic on the washes, this is going to look real nice!

Yeah you maybe right. But I wasn't planning on leaving it as is but to wipe it off where I don't want it. Same as I would with any wash.
Might be that I'm just not used to the clay based washes and how the dry
I still seems very light in colour though?

Right so progress.
Wipe off the excess on the tracks and fitted to the wheels.
Also cleaned up a few parts on the turret an hull .
So next will be detail painting and also doing the tools I need to fit.
I will be blending the tracks and tank together with some weathering powders later on also planning a simple base.

Looking good mate I think add a darker wash to those tracks say an acrylic or oil wash and it'll complement it well

Great Idea dude. Was thinking of adding another layer of weathering once the tools etc are all fitted

Right so an update on the rest of last nights progress.
All the details painted in and the tools added to the hull.
Also first layer of pigments on the exhaust.
So next will be a coat of varnish to protect the work so far then a burnt sienna oil wash to try it all together.
Been good trying out the ultimate washes. I think I need to find how I want to use them though as more of a dust coat than for shading.

Cheers for the comment guys.
The finish line is in site.
Right so after the last varnish coat the wash on the tracks toned down very nicely.
Gave the whole model a very thin burnt sienna oil wash.

Also put togehter a simple base.
So just need the oils to dry and seal the whole thing with a matt coat.
Been a long ride but worth it now need to finish and get some daylight pics when the weather isn't trying to kill me lol.
To be continued.
