Starter Kit: Harder/Steenbeck Ultra + Iwata Ninja Jet

Post by DaveWithAirplanes »

As I promised at the end of the Neo for Iwata Review... topic, here is my brand-new airbrush starter kit: a Harder/Steenbeck Ultra + Iwata Ninja Jet! This starter kit, as packaged by Chicago Airbrush Supply, also included a Harder/Steenbeck quick-release adapter for the hose that comes with the Ninja Jet... something I didn't catch, but I'm glad they included it.

I also went ahead and bought the Iwata FA600 combined regulator / moisture trap. Once I unboxed everything, it became clear that the FA600 was a bit of an overkill... I need additional hose to connect that up to the compressor

My next couple of weeks will be spent learning how to use this tool. Please chime in with any advice you might have!

That is a very fine setup.

You're well on your way taking your models to a whole new level.

Now comes the constant fiddling with paint and thinner combinations searching for the perfect match. It would help if Lee and Paul would get their fingers out with the shipping of Ultimate thinner to NA.

20psi is a good starting pressure
Start of with 50/50 mixes of paint to thinner.
Don't be afraid of it, it's only a tool, so use it don't fear it.
Jump right in and just get used to it, the more you use it the better you will get.
Make sure to clean it properly after use.

Hope that helps :thumb2:

If you can find a way around international air laws then we will get the thinner over to you :th:

We will post the Ultimate thinner and cleaner to the states and canada, but can't accept responsibility if customs sieze it. All have gotten through so far :th:

PM me if you want some :)
Where does all the bloody time go.....?

Nice airbrushing set up there. I have the ultra too and I think it's great for the money.
