Malaysian Spitfire

Post by EasyEight96 »

OK guys finally I've found a kit which suite my shortage of time best for now..
This spitfire is a photo-recon version and the scheme I will be doing was based in my country

Here's the boxart
Image

Here is what's going on the spitfire so far
I painted up the cockpit using Humbrol 78 enamel
Image

I also glued up the wings and painted it too..
Image

Later I protect the clear parts with Humbrol Maskol good stuff :D . I use white glue to glue my clear parts
Image

After the paints dried up last night I glued up the fuselage the fit well... is not that good I have to use a lot of clamps and FILLER!!!!

After much intense sanding and cursing Its time for me to prime up the Spitfire. For those who can't get AK primers or Vallejo primers I would recommend to use this as an alternate
Image

This is the very first time I'm using this as I don't normally prime my kits so its an fun experience and note this primer MUST be thin well or it will cause the paint to come out like spider webs  Here's the result after experimenting it

In conclusion Tamiya's liquid surface primer comes in handy for intermediate rookie's like me. That's all for now next will be painting the main colours and decalling so stay tunned

Cheers
Matt

Really nice work so far fella, I like how you used masking tape when filling. I've seen some use it, and others not and when my package arrives in the post I will actually be able to get started on my first model, and I'll definitely be using the masking take method. Do you find it better than not using it?

Also loving the variant colour scheme of the spitfire, a change from the normal Green/Brown. :-D

Thank you Guppy.

Drazimo , thanks and I would recommend you to use masking tape when filling as it will save the amount of time on sanding later. But remember remove the masking tape after applying the filler!

OK guys last night I've done the final masking and painting and I can tell you it is a nightmare  but I still got there in the end so here are the pics

Later I use my hairy stick the apply future on the spitfire let dry overnight here is the pic once it dried this morning

When masking the upper part make sure you apply in thin strips it's easier for the masking tape to bend at curve areas. For those who have this kit in stash make sure you paint the grey parts(wings only) first then followed by the PRU Blue. Once it is done then only you start painting the upper grey. Hope it helps the beginners

Cheers

Thanks Paul. Sadly I cant continue further anymore. When i was applying the decals it back fired me :boom: :boom: the decals just shrink and drop out. To make it even worst my cousin accidentaly drop the spitfire and tried to cover up by wiping it with my thinner :x :x so with that I need to use the swedish decals... But is Sweden under the cold war too??
