Boeing 787-9 - 1/144 Zvezda

Post by johnv »

I just started this tonight. I still need to find decals, most likely Air France. I am doing it in flight , wheels up on the sturdy stand included in the kit. So far I have the windows installed and the fuselage halves closed up. John

Looks a good kit - all the Zvezda ones I've built have gone together quite well. Are the markings provided just Boeings demonstrator?

Yes, decals are Boeing demonstrator. I am looking at V-1 decals for Air France. John

The wings are in place. NICE tight fit. On very small gap on the port side front where the wing joins the wing root at an angle. The rest is immaculate. John

I am running out of room. This is a big subject. Here is a comparison of a 1/144 757-200, Minicraft, to the 1/144 787-9, Zvezda. John

Thanks, I just added the horizontal stabilizers. It's getting tough to photograph on my small work area. John

Looking good. Not easy to work when the kit is so big. Just turning it for another angle to paint requires much restraint and thought.

Thanks, I ran out of Testors burnt iron paint. It is very hard to find so I decided to create my own. I mixed a bunch of acrylics and came up with this. Seems to work for me. John

Engines almost done. I have a couple small parts then some clean up on a few seams and I can paint the final colors. John
