Hello folks

Post by bigshug »

Hi peoples. Firstly a huge thanks to Paul for all his videos, they have helped me enormously in my new found hobby. After 6 months my builds have got slower instead of quicker  so I'm hoping that patience is starting to show in my finished models. I am not much of a writer but suffice to say I really appreciate all the time you guys take to provide such a wealth of information in one place, your work is inspirational.

Thank you folks Alan

Hello Alan and :welcome: to the ISM forum.

When you get a moment please check out the forum guidelines which can be found ---> here

We'd love to see your work & progress but in order to post photos you will need to host them on an external site such as Flickr and then link to them from the forum. Unfortunately the forum currently doesn't have sufficient capacity or bandwidth to host directly uploaded photos.

There is a quick guide on how to use the Flickr integration on the forum ---> here

As well as the forum boards there is a really useful Modeller Toolkit available which can help with paint matching, paint thinning, glue types & a scale calculator that can be found ---> here

We also run a number of group builds & special interest groups through the year so feel free to enter any of those that you like the look of.

Otherwise take a look around and join in, and if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Have fun!
Cheers, Neil

Thank you very much for your guidance Neil, you have pointed me to some invaluable info. I now have a Flickr account so as soon as time allows I'll try and upload the occasional image now and again.
As an update as this is an introduction section, a little bit more about me. I only started this hobby/addiction in the summer as I needed to keep myself pre-occupied post chemo and radiotherapy treatment. Just after starting treatment an old friend, obviously feeling sorry for me handed me the keys to his supercharged 700+BHP Mustang :o :o :o That wasn't a Sunday drive, however I noticed the same car in 1/24 scale on Amazon and the rest is history, 3 pots of paint to 30 pots of paint, brush to airbrush, seems like I've bought everything but the patience but the hobby has been a godsend for me as I have been able to keep busy whilst been almost confined to my dressing gown.
I would like to ask this in this post, as I am not sure where I should be directing it, but in light of my situation over the later half of last year, I have a little idea running through my head which spawned from watching Paul's Youtube videos. He mentions, now and again a charity to help folks through model building, which I obviously can relate to. I would like to, as and when I am able to donate, bid on Ebay on suitable subjects and send them directly to the charity thus saving additional postage costs and would wish members on this site to respect that in any potential bids I would post on here. If I am being too trusting in my thoughts please let me know or if it is an idea someone thinks could be workable, again please let me know. The hobby has kept me pre-occupied over a period of merely living without the sense of being alive if that makes sense. And to that I would like to try to somehow make a impact to someone's life no matter how small through modelling. I was hoping I could find wee £15 to £20 bargains now and again as I'm not back working yet. Any other ideas folks might have, please chip in with your thoughts, meantime thanks for reading
